As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The horrible thing is if we DID make an offer for him and he said he'd rather join United - I don't think I could take that.
We all know we aren't on the same level as some of these teams (for whatever reasons) but up until recently most of our "big" players have gone overseas where we don't have to see them licking their new badge or jumping into the crowd. To see them start lining up in the Premier League is fucking horrible. I didn't even like seeing Vieira have a few run outs at City.

If United bid we still have the first option if we say NO then its Wagner and his merry men fault and if Cesc says no to Arsenal not sure what happens there will he have to stay at Barcawhores ?
So what does "first option" really give you? The right to have a bid accepted if they accept another at the same price (as if they wouldn't anyway). And if the players knows another club is involved and wants to go there he still can.

TBH I have not a clue but all that crap about what good options we have on Cesc when we sold him like 50% on any sale ect ect seems to mean jack shit

It would be the pits if he joined or expressed a preference to join any other English club.. If Arsenal didn't take up their buy back option then Cesc would be justified in joining anyone he chooses to if he leaves Barca. If Arsenal try to implement the buy back clause but Cesc is unwilling to come then it is a different matter. Regardless of how strong our midfield might be Cesc is a world class player and Arsenal should jump at the chance of resigning him. But it is as unlikely as any of the certainties that we were linked with in June.

Seems to me as if the players are reaching the stage where they're done with Turnip. Hope so. If he loses the dressing room and the fans there's no way the American gimps can reward his incompetence with a new contract.
maybe Arsene losing the dressing room is our only hope, would make my day if a couple of them actually came out and slagged him off, pressure and discontent from us is making no difference, maybe its time for the squad to turn on him
Thing is marky, there really is fcuk all fan pressure being exerted on wenger or the board and it is doubtful if enough of them will ever have the balls to stage a proper protest A demonstration outside the ground on match days, a staged mass entrance 10 minutes into a game into a televised game, a mass protest against wenger and the board 10 minutes into a game, a demonstration outside the armoury and all club shops on a match day to try and influence fans to not spend money in there - these are some of the more meaningful protests that we should be doing and maybe they would work and maybe they wouldnt but at least then we could feel that we were doing everything in our power to influence change in the club

Yup, I remember the days.
I also remember phoning a premium rate number on a pay phone to catch the penalty shoot-out in the Arsenal v ManUre 1993 charity shield - my 50p bought me just enough time to hear Wrighty miss his penalty, but not long enough to work out what the score was or even what number penalty it was
How times have changed!
i remember calling clubcall in 95 to listen to our scoreline in the 1st pre season friendly with bergkamp. kristianstad[sweden] we were 6 -1 up bergkamp had just scored and i listened to the end[about 5 mins and he turned it into a hat trick] never really took much notice of preseason prior to that but the appetite was well and truely whet
