SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Don't know why people get into such a flap, our foul (geddit?) manager won't gobble up any talent even if it means we get a good stuffing.

 (I'll show myself out)

Recent years have been awash with so called Brazilian wonder kids who have amounted to nothing. If Arsenal were to sign Bernard for 20m+ I think it would be Wangers most negligent transfer deal in his history at the club. We could get Fellaini for a couple more million or a top striker for another 5m or so....in fact, Jovetic went for 22m! I hope it's bullshit for Wangers sake or maybe he only actually costs 6m with 15m in add ons?? Wanger is going to look mighty stupid (more than normal even) if he doesn't sign what we need but spends money on more kids.

:banghead:
True, i remember when we signed that little gem Denilson - The next wunderkind from Brazil and we all know how wonderfully awful, slow, utter shyte he turned out to be.

Of course he could be shit this Bernie but fuck it, I'm in a good mood today :barscarf:

Think that we could get stuffed in the deal, negotiating team to be treated like a doormatt, who's reputation will take a knock, though they will act as if they are smooth like butter, ball is in our court though if you ask me.

Interesting to see how many fall for this con trick.
They dangle Higuain, Rooney, Fabregas, Jovetic, then throw in the Suarez rumour, let the supporters tweet or blog themselves into a frenzy, until any player coming in becomes a relief.
Bernard? if he had been touted mid June the supporters response would have been 'who?' but now, after every other club have virtually completed their business, 'ooh it sounds exciting', but I won't fall for it.
Hopefully, the vast majority won't either.
We need proven quality, enough of the wonderkids.

There is a screaming banner headling on the Daily Mail site.

Breaking news. Bale has agreed an £8.5m per year six year deal to join Real Madrid.

Bale 'has told Spurs he wants to leave': Welsh winger to agree six-year deal with Real Madrid, according to Marca

£20m does seem a lot to a middling team like Atletico Mineiro ; The same team we bought Gilberto from I think?

It's not necessarily a bad thing ; many have already decided he can't be any good as we have not heard of him?

You can buy the best DM - who is it?
In my view that is what we have been missing for 7 years.

Incorrect - what most have said, even those pro his signing, is that we have other far far more pressing needs than another small winger/playmaker and even stevie wonder can see the validity of that point. The 2nd point that you seem to have missed is that the fee is way too expensive for an unproven at the top level type of player - that is not the same as saying that he isnt good enough

Anyone else think our Suarez bid is a deal between us and Liverpool to put out a false story - they get to raise his price, we get to show Real Madrid we won't be held to ransom over Higuain?
This is a joke yes? Are you seriously suggetsing football clubs do this sort of thing?
