Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
No , why ?
1) Proven racist
2) Like to chew on arms
3) Poor discipline in general, he wont play half the time
4) Despite the talent not worth more than higuain
We should have paid 34m for higuain and be done with it.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Most of us have dismissed the possibility of this deal ever happening on the basis of us not really being interested and using this story to push through the higuain deal or cos we dont believe that we would spend the type of money required to complete this deal but so far both reasons look to have been blown out of the water
That being said I will still be amazed if this deal ever went through - I believe that even if the victims accept our bid and even if we agree terms with suarez, we still wont get him cos madrid will come along, with the higuain money in their arse pocket, and do a similar deal with the scousers and suarez and off to sunny spain he will go.
Never mind eh cos I am sure that we have plenty of alternatives lined up should it fall through

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Initially I was a deffo no. He's a racist cannibal scumbag that brings too much baggage and would probably be a bad influence on team mates and a disruptive element in training/dressing room etc.
BUT -
the fact we haven't signed FUCKING ANYONE now makes me admit I'd take him in the blink of an eye. So thanks Arsene for making me drop my integrity through desperation.
TBH though - WE WILL NEVER SIGN HIM. Wenger is using this bid as a "Hey look I tried to sign him, I really did" deal because he knows the Mousers will NEVER sell him to us and Arsene can keep rolling backwards with his failed "project".

Can't imagine it's the first time that's happened.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
we need another striker, last season 2nd choice to Giroud was Gervinho, seems we're trying to sell forehead
for all the "we're being lied to", "project" rants - does anyone genuinely believe we won't buy a striker?
it might not be the one people want (been mentioned already that Remy is a bit rapey)
but we will of course buy a striker

True though...

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
That's a huge concern - and such an obvious sequence of events - so surely Arsenal are almost certain that won't happen or they wouldn't have been so stupid as to pass up on Higuain at £30m(ish)? (which seems a reasonable price to me).augie wrote:Most of us have dismissed the possibility of this deal ever happening on the basis of us not really being interested and using this story to push through the higuain deal or cos we dont believe that we would spend the type of money required to complete this deal but so far both reasons look to have been blown out of the waterThat being said I will still be amazed if this deal ever went through - I believe that even if the victims accept our bid and even if we agree terms with suarez, we still wont get him cos madrid will come along, with the higuain money in their arse pocket, and do a similar deal with the scousers and suarez and off to sunny spain he will go.

Maybe Real Madrid are after Bale instead?
Such an odd summer and I have no idea what's going to happen

5 weeks to go though, I suppose. No need to panic

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
buying Suarez for £10M+ more than Higuain seems strange.
I guess the fact he can play with Giroud in a 4-2-3-1 sways it?
In that formation you can't really fit Higuain and Giroud in the same team.

Simple answer, Yes.
Not just a fox in the box, he can make goals as well as score them.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
No.
I will respect the views of those who say yes, but will disagree for the following reasons:
1.) Whether or not his comment was an attempt to provoke Evra is irrelevent; he made the comment and racism cannot be defended.
2.) There are no 'cultural differences' to hold up as an excuse; many South American countries are diverse and such comments would be frowned upon.
3.) The comparison with Paul Davis is ironic; Davis was 'allegedly' racially abused by Cockerill. Davis, by his nature, was and is a very mild mannered gentleman.
4.) Yes, Pires dived. Unfortunate, unsportsmanlike...but no biting or racial abuse involved.
5.) I'm not entirely sure of the sociological make-up of this forum, but I don't think that the black supporters of The Arsenal that I know would buy into this.
6.) Armand Traore, Qunicy Owusu-Abeyie...at the first whiff of trouble, they were moved on. Why the change in policy?
7.) How exactly are Sagna, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diaby and Gibbs going to feel?
8.) Possibly ironically...it depends on your perspective of our manager...but didn't the Suarez/Evra affair sound the death knell for Dalglish?
9.) On a very personal level, I would feel distinctly uncomfortable spending my working day encouraging teenagers to appreciate the multi-cultural city in which they live, then putting a significant proportion of my hard earned cash into this man's pocket.
10.) Finally, we live in dangerous times. As a consequence of the recession, the far-right represent a worrying minority. The purchase of Suarez could quite easily encourage any fans of The Arsenal with EDL sympathies to become more vocal. It's not that long since the Islamic centre in Muswell Hill was torched; there are those in North London who hold these reprehensible views and to my mind, this would only serve as fuel for their fire.
I apologise for the length of this post, but I feel very strongly about what my club represents - the city of London and all of those within it.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Agree with Hayes on pretty much everything
If we sign Suarez is Wenger taking a page from the great man's book?
When vanStaplecunt signed for ManUre I thought it wasn't in their longterm interests. Still think they will lose/not get the best of Shrek/Wellbeck/Chicarito. Deal makes more sense now that we know Meatface had already decided to retire.Martin Hayes wrote:8.) Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Excellent points, Hayesey, I agree with all of them.
Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Yes,
1) He is one of the few 'world class' players in the PL
2) He will win us at least an extra 10 points a season
3) He has a winners attitude and fight - unlike most of the Arsenal squad
4) It's a great signal to send out - that Arsenal are a buying club again, not a selling club
5) It will help attract other quality players
6) He is at least 20 times better than any forward currently at the club!!
7) Mourinho wants a striker at Chelsea and didn't once mention wanting Higuain, that tells you a massive story on how good Higuain is compared to his inflated transfer fee!!

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
signing Suarez is effectively a loan (where the player has an option to stay if he gets injured/loses form)
when he eventua;;y, inevitably, goes to Madrid he will force through the move by any means necessary
seriously compromising his value
he is a good player though...

7).....Well I would imagine, as intelligent young men (well maybe not Diaby), all of those mentioned above would make a judgement based on their own findings and dealings with Suarez, not those spattered all over rag top headlines that other people find so obviously true!!
10).....Are you for real?? As a consequence of the recession the far right represent a worrying minority?
First of all, the world economy causes every race and colour to behave differently, you are actually quite racist yourself to suggest that it's just the far right that is worrying! The failed terrorism plots in several different countries over the past few months have all been planned by muslims, anything to say about that? Without wanting to get into a big political debate (this isn't the place), it's ridiculous and inflammatory to suggest that the signing of a football player wil increase racial hatred and make racists more vocal. Pathetic!! Has Sunderland become a place of racists yet? Just wondered, seeing as Di Canio must have been frog marching in jackboots up and down the promenade according to some!!
Jesus, what a pathetic country the UK has become.
