Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Pay loserpool their 50m before Real Madrid turn up and ruin the party. Time is running out to secure a world class striker in this window - most of those moves have already happened. Forget all this secondary nonsense about whether he is a very nice man or not, couldn't care less personally but if we go into this season without signing a top quality striker then it's another year of mediocrity at best.
We've got the makings of a very good team we just need a signing that shows some serious intent and ofc strengthens our attacking options. It could be the lift the club needs to go to the next level so stop pissing around and make it happen!

What IS baffling (well okay baffling to me) is that we had a world class striker on our books his name was RVP and we let him go...I'm sure if wenker had told him he would have £70 - £100 mill to spend AND used part of that money to give him a nice 'stay with us' bonus et cetera...we would be able to spend the majority of the money on a decent keeper/CB/Holding mid-fielder.

Anyone else have other striker thoughts should we not get Suarez or Rooney?QuartzGooner wrote:Yes, true, better to have one of those than have Giroud as main striker.g88ner wrote:Really, you want neither [Suarez nor Rooney?]QuartzGooner wrote:

Who do you want? .
I understand that Rooney and Suarez may be trouble, but surely it's better to have a world class "problem" than go into the season with Giroud as our best centre forward? (who else is there available?![]()
)
Cavani, Llorente, Falcao, Messi, Van Persie, Aguero and now Higuian all out of reach.
No idea if any of these are available, but I would try for, in order, these four who would be new to the Premier League, but exciting -
Lewandowski - All round warrior, can score out of nothing.
Benzema - Power, timing and good link man too.
El Shaarawy - Pace, freshness and confidence.
If nothing doing then these other two are worth a look -
German Denis "The Tank" - Power, experience and tough as old boots BUT really lacks pace.
Remy - I wanted to see him bought as an Arshavin replacement in addition to a main striker, BUT his criminal charge hanging over him is somewhat off putting to say the least, both personally and professionally.
He might though be innocent like RvP was.
(I think Lewandewski's record speaks for itself.
Reckon Benzema would really suit us, though he brings off field baggage of his own and am not sure at all that Real Madrid are looking to sell him.)

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
No idea outside those mentioned, and too late now anyway, but personally I'd have liked us to sign Mario Gomez who Bayern sold to Fiorentina for 17m. I know we all remember him most for fucking up numerous times against the chavs but his record of 112 goals in 175 games for Bayern speaks for itself and generally he does seem to know where the goal is more often than not

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Obviously tough because of the strikers that have gone. Tbf from your list only Higuain (perfect imo) was realistically attainable to us this summer. I would also add Gomez and Villa - neither ideal for different reasons but both got great goalscoring records and are better than what we've got/what we'll sign now.QuartzGooner wrote:Anyone else have other striker thoughts should we not get Suarez or Rooney?QuartzGooner wrote:Yes, true, better to have one of those than have Giroud as main striker.g88ner wrote:Really, you want neither [Suarez nor Rooney?]QuartzGooner wrote:

Don't think Lewandowski is a goer whatsoever, likewise with Benzema - even if they did buy Suarez and were willing to sell after the Higuain farce don't think there's a chance it would happen. Not sure if El Shaarawy would be a theoretical possibility - have to say I've only seen him a handful of times but from what I've heard he's more in the Jovetic category of being an attacker without being an out-and-out striker.
Suarez and Rooney are the only really quality options left that come to mind and neither will happen. Despite many of their fans finally realising what a prize twat Rooney is reality is Moyes can't afford to sell him 'on the cheap' (which in the eyes of the media is less than £30m) because he would lose face, particularly given the apparent difficult he's having in persuading quality players to join them. And I just plainly refuse to believe we will pay over £40m for anybody, never mind Luis Suarez.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
we are running out - posted this a while ago:
I didn't mention Soldado who will prob go to Sperz
Out of those Negredo has gone, Benteke has signed a contract, think Cisse has made up woth Newcastle, Higuain gone to Napoli...highburyJD wrote:I would have been delighted with Villa or Gomeznorthbank123 wrote:Villa, Falcao, Gomez, Cavani, Neymar, Tevez. Every week the list of top-class strikers who we could feasibly sign gets shorter and shorter
I guess Falcao, Cavani and Neymar were never realistic
Tevez slipped under the radar somewhat - he would have been an excellent signing
who is left? Obviously Higgy - now chased by Napoli. Suarez, Rooney and Jovetic
we were linked with El Shaarawy at AC Milan, I think he extended his contract...
Sometimes Wenger makes leftfield signings the press don't link - (Eduardo)
so feasible and good strikers: Balotelli, Berbatov, Benteke, I like Papiss Cisse, Giuseppe Rossi recovered from injury, Negredo (or has he signed for City already?), Kiessling from Leverkusen, I hear Pato is getting some stick in the Brazilian press, Eto'o if he's made enough money in Russia, Milito is back from longterm injury at Inter
so mostly older players or returning from injury...
none quite as exciting as Higuain.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
None of these options are better than Suarez.
Lewandowski? Going to Bayern next year, already confirmed by Klopp.
Benzema? After selling Higuain RM aren't going to sell their main striker too.
El Shaarawy? Don't make me laugh.

Not sure Spurs can afford Soldado unless they sell Bale. No CL money, I have a feeling their wage bill might have taken a sharp hike, already spent 20-25 mil and nobody else they could realistically sell for a decent fee.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
not being much of a follower of La Liga, i didnt know Higuain very well, so when i heard we had 99.999perecnt got him I checked out some of his exploits on Youtube and thought, "this guy looks like a beast, more lethal in the box thanRVp even- just what we need". It was the most excited and optmistic id felt about Arsenal in a long time.

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
I'm too excited about seeing the postman from Auxerre to be concerned with signing average players like Suarez

Truth!
So all of a sudden we can spend 40M on a single player, wouldn't this have been mentioned to RVP? Why take the 24 only to spend 45M? on a replacement the next season. Is our income tied with new sponsorship deals? If that's the case I doubt we'll have much left if we buy suarez. Liverpool will want to maximise the fee as to mediate the effect of increasing our chances of top 4, but they only do so if they're confident of getting the right players to replace him. I'm sure they have planned for the chance of him leaving this season.

Diving, racist coward who would only bring more trouble than he's worth. He deserves to stay and rot at the Scousers.
Love this one, how he starts to roll around injured after the disgraceful tackle looking at the ref.
x2 Do not want him at our club ( but he won't come anyway).

One signing ain't gonna solve our current problems.
Having said that - one departure might solve a few problems. Wenger's departure!!!!

Re: Do you want Luis Suarez?
Suarez is a smoke screen for Arsene. He knows the Mousers won't let him go for less than £50m - £60m, just as he knows the board will not allow him to spend that on one player. This Suarez thing is all so Arsene can say "But we tried to sign Suarez - we were maybe 1% or 2% away from signing him but the Mousers wanted silly money" when angry fans/shareholders etc have a pop at his project/transfer business next season because we are out of all the cups in January and scrapping for 4th AGAIN by Februarzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
