Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
No top player will sign for us unless
A. They are desperate to get away from there current club or
B. They are damaged goods
The cannibal ticks both boxes but the mousers will display more backbone than we ever have which is great for Wenker
Because he is just using this saga as a time wasting exercise until the window slams shut.

I'm actually of the opinion it isn't worth trying for a top named striker after the failure to lure our real target which was Higuain .
Suarez represents a gamble at 25 million let alone 40 ++ !
Better off saving the money and getting a quality defensive and attacking midfielder plus a central defender
and a quality goalkeeper !
We can get that for 30 million I reckon which plus the selling of the forehead will come up to the 20 mill nett spend that we really have !

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
After spending years banging on about how clubs that spend big money are ruining football and how he doesn't buy superstars, he makes them.....what on earth makes people think Wenger will turn 180 degrees and do exactly that??
Seriously....not a chance in hell. They were desperate to sell season tickets/boxes/club level and saw an opportunity. Like I said before, we could be watching the biggest 'swindle' of modern times unfolding at Arsenal FC over the course of the last few and next couple of years.
What contempt they have for Arsenal customers!!

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
These conspiracy theories are really getting tiresome. Clubs do not bid 40 million for players as a smokescreen. The fact the pound was included in the deal should show you how serious Arsenal are about signing him. Don't make sweeping statements about something, when the facts point to the real truth.Suarez is a smoke screen for Arsene. He knows the Mousers won't let him go for less than £50m - £60m, just as he knows the board will not allow him to spend that on one player. This Suarez thing is all so Arsene can say "But we tried to sign Suarez - we were maybe 1% or 2% away from signing him but the Mousers wanted silly money" when angry fans/shareholders etc have a pop at his project/transfer business next season because we are out of all the cups in January and scrapping for 4th AGAIN by Februarzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
With all the money in the bank 60,000 stadium nearly full every match (well in there eyes) we have really got a small club Mentality shame on everybody who runs the club .

So what is the real truth rigsby ? Do you think that signing suarez would be the start of a summer spending spree or do you think, like I do, that signing suarez would only rise to false hope as any other recruits arriving will be his usual bargain bin cheapo signings ?
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
The fact the pound was included, I actually find quite embarrassing! Anyone with half a brain knows Liverpool won't sell for 40 million, especially if Monkey Boy is going for 80+. Go in with 50mil if your serious!augie wrote:So what is the real truth rigsby ? Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I don't understand how this is "Groundhog summer once again" - last year we sold our top scorer and spent about 40M+ recruiting new players (Podolski and Giroud were sorted up by this date). In what way is that remotely similar to what's gone on so far this summer?greengooner wrote:No top player will sign for us unless

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I thought it was incredibly small time and embarassing, I cringed when I read about it. Typical Arsenal doing just enough to trigger the release clause, just like we do just enough to scrape into the CL.goonertux wrote:The fact the pound was included, I actually find quite embarrassing!
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
The reports suggest that he has a clause in his contract for bids over £40M. The pound wasn’t included as a bonus for Brendan Rogers to have a couple of goes on the fruity.goonertux wrote:The fact the pound was included, I actually find quite embarrassing! But they thought (or maybe still think) that extra £1 would activate some sort of release clause. Why would you be embarassed to activate that? - and, more importantly, why spend more than you have to just to save face??goonertux wrote: The fact the pound was included, I actually find quite embarrassing! As for the "anyone with half a brain" comment... again, you're forgetting the release clause. Surely, you've got it the wrong way round, and only someone with half a brain would bid £50m if theres a £40+£1 release clause? - Liverpool would be pissing themselves with laughter if they pulled that one off.
The problem seems to be the ambiguity of the release clause... that's hardly our fault, and if anything is an embarrassment for Suraez' agent!
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Be intresting what our sponsors think off Arsenal at the moment they are throwing in the money and we are doing fuck all with it showing even more lack of ambition if that is possible .
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
,good point, who wants to chuck millions at a club treading water year after year.also regarding suarez YES HE IS A SMOKESCREEN,IF LIVERPOOL ACCEPT THE OFFER WENKER WILL SHIT HIMSELF,ITS ALL TO KEEP THE SHEEP HAPPY,swimmer1 wrote:Be intresting what our sponsors think off Arsenal at the moment they are throwing in the money and we are doing fuck all with it showing even more lack of ambition if that is possible .

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
If you sign Suarez than that's a brilliant bit of business and he's strengthened an area we needed addressing with a world class footballer, so I cannot knock him if he signs him. My point was in relation to Suarez, not other players. I was pointing out that all this nonsense talk of some sort of conspiracy bids, or smokescreens are verging on the ridiculous. Clubs hype stuff yes, but clubs do not bid 40 million quid as a way to try and make some sort of point. So what is the real truth rigsby ? Do you think that signing suarez would be the start of a summer spending spree or do you think, like I do, that signing suarez would only rise to false hope as any other recruits arriving will be his usual bargain bin cheapo signings ?
For ages we've gone on about him spending big, well this time he's gone in for a top draw player for a huge amount. That's a fact. Is it enough? No. But that wasn't what i was talking about.
