People blindly believing every word out of Arsene's mouth is what's tiresome.rigsby wrote:These conspiracy theories are really getting tiresome. Clubs do not bid 40 million for players as a smokescreen. The fact the pound was included in the deal should show you how serious Arsenal are about signing him. Don't make sweeping statements about something, when the facts point to the real truth.Suarez is a smoke screen for Arsene. He knows the Mousers won't let him go for less than £50m - £60m, just as he knows the board will not allow him to spend that on one player. This Suarez thing is all so Arsene can say "But we tried to sign Suarez - we were maybe 1% or 2% away from signing him but the Mousers wanted silly money" when angry fans/shareholders etc have a pop at his project/transfer business next season because we are out of all the cups in January and scrapping for 4th AGAIN by Februarzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

And who said anything about conspiracy theories? I certainly didn't. But judging by Wenger's previous modus operandi I fully believe he is just doing an excercise is demonstrating that we are now seriously trying to sign a big name when in truth he has no intention whatsoever of actually completing the signing. Wenger has been under more pressure in the last two years than at any time in his career and this season that pressure will be ramped up. He needs to show the fans, the media and the shareholders that Arsenal are not now just a selling club and that we are still contenders, thus the bid for Suarez is high enough to trigger the notification clause but not high enough for the Mousers to sell. Remember, Wenger doesn't buy superstars - he makes them. Well, in his own deluded mind he still does...

How many times have we heard Arsene state rubbish like "I nearly signed so and so"?
