SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Any chance of some fan unrest at the Conglomerates Cup at the weekend?

There are 2 fundamental problems with every transfer target and dream, 3 in fact !

The first 2 are Dick Law and IG.

Every deal is negotiated as a traditional business deal not a football contract and they continue to fuck up big time always assuming a player has no other choices and only wants to join Arsenal and hence like Higuain we lose out on a player AW genuinely wanted.

As they are employees and not shareholders /stakeholders in the club they are always focused on the cost only and never look at the bigger picture and with no doubt personal contracts that have profit share bonuses every £1m they can save on a purchase price helps their personal coffers- we all know that eventually it will cost them re 4th place trophy but until then...

The other inter related issue and 3rd problem is that I think some players have contracts that will trigger various pay rises when we sign someone earning more than them so the cost of a £150k per week player might end up £250k a week to the club ! another not thought through issue on previous fucked up negotiations.

Thing is this transfer window we have freed up so much cash from getting rid of some of our shite but we cant seem to be able to sign anyone good. Glad we had a period where Bergkamp and Henry said yes. I have the proof on DVD.

Reports on SSN that we are listening to offers for Giroud

At this rate we will be sticking out a mixture of the womens and U14 sides for the first game :?

Well it wouldn't bother me if we off loaded him as he is just an average striker but we are rapidly running out of forwards.

He doesn't trust podolski up top, nor theo so if we do sell Giroud then we will need at least 2 forwards coming in and we have struggled to get one at the moment

I can only assume that we have agreed terms and transfer fees with Rooney and Suarez :barscarf:

For me, the most worrying aspect of the window so far is that we are still lumbered with Bendtner and Chamakh on £112000 each week between them. Better if we bite the bullet and buy out the contracts of these two donkeys as nobody is ever going to meet their wage demands.

I also believe the much talked about DM role will be another case of a round peg in a square hole. Wenger will fill that void from within using either TV5 or Monreal.

Akpom is the future :barscarf:

Yep, that's it.

I imagine that we'll get rid of Giroud, Podolski on the left, Walcott on the right. Remi or Gomis from Lyon plus Akpom introduced into the first team squad. Job done. :D 8)
