As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I personally think Ramsey will have a great season coming up, as long as Wenger keeps him off the wing
That's actually funnier than Arsenal supposedly going after a 50m pound player!!
Ramsey is average, totally average and a million miles away from being good enough for a supposedly big (sic) team like Arsenal.
Actually in reality, Ramsey is exactly what Arsenal 2013 are all about, inconsistent, incapable, flatters to deceive, full of promise and never delivers. A match made in heaven.
Well done Wanger and Gazidis, £10m a year for the football equivalent of Cannon and Ball.
Ramsey went through a bad period, had no confidence.
He came back into form towards the end of the season. You can see he has got a good footballing brain.
I think he will have a good season.
(hes got to stop the little flicks that never come off though )
Two years playing shit is a "bad period"? As much as we all wanted Ramsey to succeed there is just no denying he is not good enough to be a first team starter at a PL club with actual ambitions. Sure, he is good enough to get a career out of football, but at a lower level. Also, whilst I applaud his refusal to give up and his work-rate, I cannot agree that he has a good footballing brain. He has no footballing brain at all and 9 times out of 10 picks the wrong pass/option when in posession. How many times did we see his own team mates yelling at him in frustration in the second half of last season? That doesn't happen over night, that is something that builds up over a long period of time. He's not good enough. A real shame but true all the same...

Works hard and suffered great misfortune but he's never going to be good enough to be part of a squad challenging for the title. At best in our squad now he should be last resort to cover if we have multiple injuries in one position.

I'm tired of his stuborn attitude towards transfers and the costant refusal to sort out contracts before the time, for not building on our strongest team. We are always playing catch up replacing players lost and have never truly replaced the defence and midfield of old.
We need change I would love wenger just to get a proper keeper of which we have not had since Seaman. Why does he refuse to buy experience even if it's for a few seasons?
We had the best out of Wenger time for change. Now we need to get a billionare takeover and a new manager. Even if Wenger had the money he would still be getting kids and unknowns. I'm tired of unknowns with potential give me names to get excited about. Not since Bergkamp have a felt that thrill from a signing and excitement that the paying fans deserve.
Thank you Arsene for giving me the best years of Arsenal but it's time for a new beggining. You can only re-build teams a number of times before you start ruining the foundations and I fear that is whats happening to the club we love.
This is the very first post in this thread. 11 August 2008. Almost exactly 5 years ago and pretty much everything this guy says in it still applies.
Giroud is a good player, and I think will be a lot better this year BUT he's an option not the solution. He will bag you a good tally, but what every top club needs is a truely world class forward. Get that and , as someone mentioned like Utd last year, it can carry you to a serious challenge.
For a long time I've sat on the fence when it comes to Wenger. I wouldn't class myself as an AKB by any means, but neither was I calling for his head. I can see the arguments for him staying and the job he's done, and I can see the arguments against him. From a personal point of view, I admit I was one of those who said yeah just give him this summer. Just give him this summer. Just give him this summer. But that stops this year.
For all the benefit of the doubt that I and others have given him, doing well on a low budget, no sugar daddy, this summer is THE summer. This is the make or break summer. It felt different because Gazidis came straight out and said yep we'll be making big signings, the shackles are off. I know he's hinted money was available before, but this summer he's been very forthright in saying yes we will spend, no doubt about it, we're active already.
And yet, slowly but surely, this summer is going the way of so many others before it. For me, Wenger has until 1st September to spend a substantial amount of money on much needed investment. If that doesn't happen, then very simply he has to go, and I think this season will be the watershed. The rumblings of discontent, after the promises of early summer from IG, will grow beyond anything we've seen yet. And it'll be thoroughly deserved.

Tick tock Wenger.
So how can we make our feelings known? Boycotts, marches, banners etc need serious organisation and you'll still have a large section of the crowd who will remain blind to the slow demise of our great club. I'm not sure just how, but something serious needs to be done if, as you say, nothing happens before the close of the window. Surely they are all not blind to the growing feeling of anger amongst the fans?
"I don't know. We are not close to signing Suarez or anybody else so there's no reason why I should talk about it.
"There is nothing to say. I have been away now for two or the weeks and it's hard to see how things are advanced because everyone is on tour at the moment and it's very difficult to get in touch with people."
It has become clear that he is either completely incompetent or is part of the great swindle.
I mean how can he come out with such crap, 10 weeks since the end of the season and under 3 weeks before the new season, and we're not close to signing anyone because it's "it's very difficult to get in touch with people".
Do other clubs have this problem? Did David Dein take all his contact numbers with him? Has Wenger run out of credit?

Excellent post mate.....yes, we were all once thinking/hoping/believing/saying - This summer..ad nauseum ... However I think you may well have hit on a good idea for next weeks e*****es Cup
Anyone attending who is of the opinion that THIS summer really IS Wenger's absolute last chance then take a piece of paper A3 is easy to fold and open up....and on it just write
"TICK
TOCK
WENGER"
That'll be picked up by the media - it doesn't involve abusive chanting etc...and if the gestapo stewards come along simply fold and put away, if enough of them appear around the bowl.....it's bound to draw attention...
Yes I like that, it could be the mantra for the whole season if, miracle of miracles it is his last. Tick tock Wenger, your time is nearly up. And don't even THINK about staying on
Maybe we could hire this guy to do several 'fly-bys' with a trailing banner! [SPEND SOME F*CKING MONEY] over the week-end, he could zoom into and out of the bowl before the gestapo knew what was happening he could be in and gone - in and gone - in and gone!
