SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Prices for quality players have shot up in the current window and our club has certainly fanned the inflationary flames with their ridiculous approach to the market !
If Bale goes Spurs will splurge for replacements ,and that will take prices to another level again ,we could then be left mired in the basment wringing our hands.
We have a wafer thin squad ,those of u that think Sagna can be a center back need to be reminded that he is small and so have been the people he played against in asia. He wont cut it with a carrol or crouch breathing down his neck.
We loaned out Djourou and Coq for a pittance so we have no cover at center back or DM pure insanity !
Meantime we go after stikers which we do need but not as much as a Goalkeeper ,a DM,Cover CB and then a striker .
After all we have Chamahk,Bendtner,Gervinho still on the books !
I can see a last day scramble coming securing more highly paid flotsam !

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
If we don't make any BIg signings this summer - which is looking more and more likely what with wenkers pathetic, lame and half-hearted attempts to sign Higuain & Suarez - I bet he was h*tting himslef in case they said "Yes"...
But if we don't make any BIG signings, we then need to prepare ourselves for Barca/R.Madrid/or the Mancscum teams coming in for Jack next summer.
Wenger is destroying our club from the inside...what an utter UTTER *word censored*.

Gazidis announced what we had to spend as he was 'protecting' his position. He knows the fans are growing mighty restless. I truly beleive Wenger is the one not going through with deals, it came out a year or two ago in a supporters trust Q&A with Gazidis that Wenger has the final say on all transfers and valuations of players.
On a side note, Arsenal could be in real trouble with the sale of Bale, if Spuds manage to get Di Maria and another player PLUS 50 odd million, they will spend it, they won't hesitate like Arsenal do. They look like signing Soldado now so that would leave them with about 25m to spend without having touched any more of their 'own' money. That would be three quality signings plus Paulinho. Yes they will have lost Bale but potentially become more of a 'team'.
If Arsene Wonga doesn't buy any quality, this could be the tightest battle yet for 4th.

Couldnt agree more - they will take the cash and then make a splash and make us look pathetic (or more pathetic). Spurs are far too reliant on Bale - they need to sell him and use the cash to diversify their quality base - i hope they keep him because it is nothing but bad news for us if he goes.TeeCee wrote:Gazidis announced what we had to spend as he was 'protecting' his position. Honestly the more I think about it the more I think we should just play Theo up front as CF. He's deserved it IMO and it clearly is his preferred position. I would of loved Higgy up front but well there's no point complaining now.

That doesn't look too bad to me. Definitely not prem winning but should get us top 4.

How long do you think it would take to remember that Walcott gives you no option but trying to run in behind every single time?
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Agreed. I think Theo gets better in people's minds every summer, only to be reminded of his limitations once the season starts.northbank123 wrote:How long do you think it would take to remember that Walcott gives you no option but trying to run in behind every single time?
I like Theo, but the thought of starting a season with him as first choice striker (when our rivals will have RVP, Rooney, Suarez, Aguero, etc) is enough to make you weep.
We NEED a top striker. The fact we've run out of options other than paying silly money for Suarez is the clubs fault.

Just predicting his inevitable 6 month injury lay off I'd imagine.

As evidenced on the far east tour, the brainless wally has a strike ration of about 1 goal every 5 chances

Sp*rs announce deal for Soldado

That's another of Europe's free scoring strikers we can't sign if the Suarez move goes the same way as Higuain.
Still, at least we have Giroud

I agree with both of you. I like Theo too but he just isn't good enough to lead the forward line. I can't see him offering anything up front that he doesn't offer on the wing, he is not an incisive dribbler, he is not powerful and his passing is not the best. The guy has no business playing as a lone striker.g88ner wrote:Agreed. Also Bernard on the wing?

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Walcott will generally do a job up top against relegation fodder because they're an absolute shambles defensively, their defensive lines tend to be packed with carthorses and generally we'll be overrunning them anyway so there will be gaping holes.
Against a well-organised defence he's pretty useless at centre-forward most of the time.

I agree with rodders - dont give a flying fcuk if we sign anybody or not anymore. Our time to sign players was a few weeks ago so that it would allow them time to bed into the squad and adapt to new tactics and formation (
