but why do you continually self harm? We will get none of 'em I tells ya.

edit: my bad, just seen this.

Mikel Arteta has promised Arsenal WILL deliver big-name signings this summer - but warned they will all be last-minute deals.

Well, that certainly put a spring into my step.

This video of all his goals last season impressed me because they are so varied
the one where the ball is played behind him and he scores with a backheel is genius

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
The highlights reel for Perez are interesting - firstly because none of his assist end in goals which i would think would be in a highlights reel unless there arent many to include.
Secondly he does look like a player with vision and excellent first touch.
Thirdly - and this may be the stumbling block in signing him - he is quite direct with his passing and frequently in the air, this is not a criticism and he appears to be accurate but i wouldnt have thought Wenger would want to see too much of that unless.......he may be considering the odd change in tactics (blasphemy)!!.

Yeah - not excluding him, just havent seen enough of him to judge. Would take Drogba and Hamsik in a heart beat. People may hate Drogba but in my view he has talent, skill, determination, strength, size and mongrel and is a winner in big situations - very un-Arsenal like at the moment.highburyJD wrote:I liked Martinez at the Emirates despite his missed penSwifty wrote:Certainly the last 4highburyJD wrote:I'd happily take Jackson Martinez, Drogba, Hamsik, Cannavaro or Altintop

I see that we have reverted to discussing who we want to buy rather than discussing rumours about who we might buy
With the exception of that ginter bloke (never heard of him by the way
) we are not even being linked to anyone except hannibal the cannibal and the world and it's mother knows that we aint getting him

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Much as it pains me too say we should try and grab Shrek, if he wants out grab him! and forget about the cannibal.

The whole "being linked" thing is 99.9% bollocks made up purely by the papers though - why do you want to read nonsense?! As this topic proves, it just get's hopes up for absolutely no reason.augie wrote:I see that we have reverted to discussing who we want to buy rather than discussing rumours about who we might buy![]()

I know it is complete bollocks but it can be quite good reading posts from different members on here who are either talking up the merits of the player or dismissing the player in question - of course after that it is funny to see Steve o dismiss all the rumours in his own unique way

I was working on the thinking that we wouldn't pay his big wages (reported to be between 75-90K). if he joined Fiorentina for a big pay cut then I'd be gob smacked that we didn't get him. Ticks all the boxes.Could Julio Cesar be close to finalising a move away from Queens Park Rangers? According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina have reached an agreement with QPR for the goalkeeper, however, the Serie A club want the Brazilian to take a 50 per cent pay cut.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Still think it's lunacy we haven't signed Cesar. Available for a negligible fee, bags of experience and still imo a pretty quality option - but not one that could be said to 'kill' Szczesny. Shouldn't be any worry about the wages given the players we've let go but could give Fabianski away for a nominal fee (and somebody would take him).
Seems crazy that we have the opportunity to shore up a position that desperately needs it (and has done for a decade) for next to nothing and we haven't taken it. I'm personally smarting we didn't sign Lloris - top keeper, perfect age and a very reasonable fee - just so that we could watch Szczesny throw away goals every other week safe in the knowledge that he won't have any meaningful competition for the jersey.

All joking aside though I'm in total agreement... complete lunacy to not sign Cesar. Right price, right age, right experience and available.
No doubt the club will have yet another stupid excuse to explain why Cesar has not been pursued.
