As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Surely a naturally defensive midfielder is what we need so that it can free up wilshere, cazorla, ramsey, ox and rosicky to play their more natural attacking game ? Buying a box to box midfielder will still mean the same amount of defensive responsibility for those attacking midfielders and is nearly as alien a concept as playing podolski and bendtner on the wing

if we do get Suarez, it does nothing for the lack of strength in midfield. we still need a box to box midfielder who can run all day like Parlour, Freddie, Flamini, Paddy etc and protect the back four, break up attacks and spring ours.
any word on Diaby lately ?
Latest word says that he is a useless, braindead, injury prone dickhead
I think most of you know that we'll sign a few players before the end of the month. The big debate really sits on how good these players will be.
I don't like how this Suarez thing is going but I guess no club ever wants to sell their best player. My opinion on Suarez aside, I just can't see how Arsenal are going to finalise it.

That for me is a bigger scandal that allowing david villa go to athletico madrid for a pittance and I wanted us to sign villa Chesney might well turn out to be the best keeper in the league this year but it sure as well wont happen with flaps behind him and exerting no pressure on him for the job

Something wasn't quite right about that Villa deal. They were talking 20-25M in January. Barca probably owed them money for something.

They may well of done... but I doubt it was anywhere near as much as they owe us!

Sagna is not and never will be a competent centre half in the premiership .
Having loaned out out our only DM cover and 4th CB for pittances ,we are again 1 injury away from crisis and we all know the injuries will come.
This squad is a disaster waiting to happen ,normally that occurs in November then again in March !
The long trip to Asia has left us weeks behind in training which is also a concern given that we will be having to compete in the qualifier against teams whose league will have been under way for a week or two b4 ours .
Been saying this for ages say the like of forehead yes he is crap but when he leaves and we replace him with nothing this is where we will really suffer bit like our CB'S and Goalie sell Manone and send the Swiss lad on loan also with TV out again we have not replaced them anymore injuries and we are truely fucked.

I'd be genuinely shocked if we got rid of both Arshavin and Gervinho and didn't sign anyone in that area. Don't see it happening despite my reservations about transfers at the club....
I would like to know what the reason was behind Gazidis announcing we have a substantial transfer budget back in mid June.
He must have known then Wenger had not been badgering the board with a long list of targets, in a 'Redknapp' sort of way.
Was it to distance himself from the oncoming flak when it became apparent the plan was to not buy until late into the window, if at all?
My theory is Wenger was already giving the board the same bullshit he spouted on Sunday afternoon back in May/June, that the squad will challenge without new additions.

I think Gazidis was trying to get out that Arsenal mean business the problem lies with Wenger a known dither says he wants a player then changes his mind at the last minute also we have not got a clue how to sign top players say over 25 mill that's why top teams pay big money for negotiators and we have Dick Law .
The Gunners boss admits he has no idea what Liverpool will do regarding the Uruguayan striker following reports the striker is considering taking legal action to force a move
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted the club's pursuit of Luis Suarez is "on standby" following reports the Liverpool striker is considering taking legal action to force a move.
The Gunners have already seen two bids for the Uruguayan rejected, the more recent being upwards of £40 million to trigger a supposed release clause, while Suarez is adamant the club said he could leave if the Anfield outfit failed to qualify for the Champions League last season.
"At the moment the situation is on standby," Wenger told Al Jazeera Sport. "I heard that [Suarez is considering legal action to force a move] but this is sometimes linked with things that you don't know as a potential buyer.
"That is the story between Suarez and Liverpool and I don't know what has been said, what has been promised and what has been written and that is only Suarez and Liverpool that can decide that.
"It's nothing to do with us. We have been told that the player wants to leave Liverpool and that's why we've acted."
Asked on the latest regarding Suarez after the striker pulled out of Liverpool's travelling squad for a friendly in Norway, Wenger admitted: "I really don't know, that's for sure, I really don't know what will be decided by Liverpool."
The Frenchman is now playing the waiting game, and has admitted to frustration with the augmented transfer market following big-money moves by Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, for Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao respectively, but promised fans the club are pursuing a marquee signing.
"It's going slowly," he continued. "Slower than expected [because clubs have] more money than talent and the clubs with talented players don't want to lose them.
"Some clubs acted very early so the choices were reduced, plus there is more competition coming from France. PSG buy big players for huge amounts of money so it's tough and difficult and slow."

Season ticket and membership sales seems like too simple of an explanation. People would have renewed/bought them anyway.
He would have been better off saying nothing. It's just driven prices up.
