Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
With forehead gone that makes a summer surplus of £10 mil, so the mythical war chest increases to £80 mil.
No wonder silent Stan backs Wenger to the hilt.
Only the cost of Wenger's new contract to deduct now, and still just be in profit.

But clubs all over the world hold up our way of doing business as the template to copy

Sell, sell, sell - run out of youth to "promote" and then buy, buy (not a hint of panic you understand theses were our real targets all along !)

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I haven't looked in a while. Have we signed anyone yet?
It's all well and good getting rid of the utter crap that we had on the books, but surely any sane club would then look to replace those players and strengthen the squad just as quickly! It's just basic sense, I don't know how long we can carry on like this.
I'm hoping that this is Wenger not looking to interfere with the club transfers again, instead simply getting rid of the deadwood and leaving mainly a strong(ish) squad so that a new manager can come in next year, have the basis of a good squad and the money to strengthen it as they see fit... Yeah... that's it, surely...

Yeah I share your hope and would gladly accept what's happened this summer (or what hasn't happened to be more accurate) if it either brings about the end of Wenger's reign or is a sign of it.Jonny_Gooner wrote: I'm hoping that this is Wenger not looking to interfere with the club transfers again, instead simply getting rid of the deadwood and leaving mainly a strong(ish) squad so that a new manager can come in next year, have the basis of a good squad and the money to strengthen it as they see fit... People talk about getting rid of the deadwood but the biggest piece of deadwood of all is still at he club and its a massive hindrance because he's the manager. We cannot do anything meaningful with him hanging around so I want him out far more than I want any new signing.

John W Henry declares Suarez won't be sold and certainly not to Arsenal

Any truth in it, seems a pretty bizarre stance to take if true.

I couldn't agree more! We can get rid of all these under-performing players all we like, but nothing will change as long as Wenger is still on board. More than likely we'll have a terrible start to the season and we'll see more panic buying at the end of the window, resulting in more overpaid shite that will need to be cleared out.Clash wrote:Yeah I share your hope and would gladly accept what's happened this summer (or what hasn't happened to be more accurate) if it either brings about the end of Wenger's reign or is a sign of it.Jonny_Gooner wrote: I'm hoping that this is Wenger not looking to interfere with the club transfers again, instead simply getting rid of the deadwood and leaving mainly a strong(ish) squad so that a new manager can come in next year, have the basis of a good squad and the money to strengthen it as they see fit... The only way I'm going to get through this season, I fear, is in the hope that we see the end of Wenger come the final game!
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Just wait until shit for brains comments at the end of August how we've played more games than everyone else owing to the Chumpions League two legger, berates Hodgson for picking Wilshere for the England v Scotland match and starts moaning about TV schedules
Funny how we seem to be making the squad smaller with every passing week and how someone who hasn't worked in football for 30 years can spot that ?
The game at Fulham is a 12.45 kick off on the Saturday after CL playoff first leg so looking forward to "our physical level was a little bit lacking in the second half because in midweek we gave absolutely everything"
This will be such a hard season to predict
Tissues ready for Carrow Road everybody

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
All this transfer talk of Saurez has 'successfully' hidden the fact that AW has so far failed to sign :
1 GK ( Cesar for £1M is a no brainer for me... )
1 CB/RB ( we currently only have 3 CBs and one of them will be out for God only knows how long ... )
1 DM ( Arteta is getting older and can't carry the boat all season .... Ramsey is getting better , but he's still not the man for that role IMO)
1 Attacking MF / striker ( we've just sold Gervinho , so I don't think we can count on the best striker in the world
and/or Park
)
Finally, if AW & co can't get Suarez for whatever reason , why not have a plan B and go out and buy another striker ?????
That bloke Martinez from Porto seems good and is probably one of the few quality strikers available out there ...
P.S. I still CANNOT beleive we turned down the chance to spend £30/35 M for Higuain...

Refusing point blank to sell your best player to a rival?? A novel approach by John Henry but he should really follow the Arsenal business model if he wants his club to be successful.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Wenker and smarmy ivan wont be able to give up on the suarez deal now cos who the fcuk is left for them to buy ? They wont get shrek cos he wants to join his chav international team-mates (how I will laff when pikey terry is caught banging coleen
) and any half decent available striker has transferred to new clubs whilst our administrators and management were on hols or "expanding our brand" (
) in asia so as per normal, we snooze and we lose
Most of us never believed that wenker wanted to sign the cannibal but lets pretend for a minute that he did - we would like to think that the senile old c.unt knows that we need a striker (klingon gone, chamakh close to leaving and billy big bollox not wanted
) and he knows that the fans are absolutely clamouring for top quality and high profile hence his attempts to sign a guy he normally wouldnt touch with a barge pole. Right now there isnt a single available striker out there that can fill both of those criteria so ladies and gentlemen please prepare yourself for at least 4 months of players like sonogo and worlds best danish striker (assuming he goes nowhere) playing key roles for our club so I hope that when things go tits up (and they will go tits up with that forward line
) all you people, especially the wenker sheep, speak up and drive the old c.unt from our club for once and for all

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I said it before and I will say it again. Arsene never had any intention of actually paying £40million+ for, and signing, Gnasher. It was all a smokescreen so when the inevitable backlash raises it's ugly head against his "project" as we struggle to grab 4th place yet again he can turn around and say "But I tried to sign Suarez, I tried to sign so and so, we have the money but if the other club won't sell what can I do? Anyway our young players (that I discovered by the way!) are all brilliant and we are strong enough and blah. Blah. Blah. Blah."
And someone on here reckoned I was spouting conspiracies?
No conspiracy in the fact that Arsene will NEVER spend £40million+ on a top quality player because his ego will simply not allow it. He doesn't buy superstars, he makes superstars, don't you know!
