SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That's because we always sell better players first!! Or occasionally afterwards when we know we are going to sell (RVP)!!!!!
I don't remember too many people moaning last summer after we signed Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla.

Are you shitting me ? Maybe you could argue that it was because of the timing but we sold rvp after buying those players and even stevie wonder could see that we were always going to be a weaker team based on those deals.

Has to be noted that even arseblog is questioning wenger and the club at the mo and I would class him as very pro both and he has, in my opinion anyway, frequently stuck his head in the sand in recent seasons :o
Saw that last night thought he was going to top himself .

Of course, it's shit mate! Everyone wants to get players signed and in as soon as possible.

You have the whole window in which to sign players. It's not all over if you haven't with two weeks to go! We've fluffed it if the squad looks the same in 2/3 weeks time.

Reality is all the clubs that were willing to part with quality players have already done so. When we decide that we actually want to enter the transfer market in mid-to-late August, Wenger will be astounded that clubs knock him back because they don't want to sell key players AFTER the season has started and certainly not at a basement price.

Frankly I couldn't give a fuck whether we sign £8-12m players because barring a bit of defensive cover it's not what we need and it won't be decisive this year.

Why do peope keep saying to realx because there's 3 weeks to go before the window closes. There's only EIGHT days to go before the season starts for FFS.

Isn’t the whlole point of the summer to prepare yourself for the start of the season, not the end of the transfer window??

Then again I haven't worked a day in the game, what the fcuk do I know

WENGER OUT.

:rubchin: :rubchin: :rubchin: Maybe not quite everyone eh ? Wenker obviously doesn't see the benefits of a settled squad, get formations sorted, new players settled into new homes, roles known, prior to the league campaign and vital champions league qualifiers. :banghead: :banghead:

It seems whenever we enter advanced negotiations with players of that quality we all want, something happens and we end up losing out (Mata, Sahin and Higuain are the recent examples). What makes me angry is that we're losing money hand over fist on inferior players who we should never have bought, while missing out on genuinely class players because we don't want to pay the going rates.
Exactly - it's maddening.

And who would you say was at fault for all of that? :|

I don't know if you got the memo Rodders but the window doesn't actually kick into action until the last week or so, which is obviously the best time to pick up quality players for reasonable prices as clubs are super-keen to offload their best players once the season starts.

It is somewhat intriguing I must say but I think it is but the current stick with which to beat Arsene. As I have said before (when I haven't had his cock in my mouth) I do not believe everything he does is wonderful, I never have, I do not believe the sun shines out of his arse (I surely would have noticed from my position?). Yep, I would like to have seen us land someone by now rather than last minute, if we are going to - in answer to your question therefore, yep I do wonder but I don't let it upset me and it doesn't have me calling for Arsene's head on a plate, or even a platter.

Please go!

End of 2014 season, say your farewell speech and hand the reigns over to somebody who has Arsenal's interests first not this ridiculous dream of turning a team of youngsters into trophy winners.

A great opportunity this season to push on, Gazidis made it public as to apply enough pressure on Arsene to secure the players we need, little over a week to go to the start of the season, and.. nothing.

Why wait until the window closes, we've already missed on quality players like higuain. Football has changed, inflation means that our ticket prices go up, so do prices for players who were once 20M, are now 30M.

People are scared of the future so naturally the fear Arsene departing, but if we let fear rule us nothing will ever change.

A paper thin squad to enter the new season, do people believe there are no GK better than fabianski and sczneny, we don't have a DM, so as you can imagine games between us and utd/city/chelsea invaribly result in a loss (like last season). We messed up getting a striker, at least there was some effort, but all in all a miserable failure. Now people are getting paid up to 7M british pounds to make these decisions so yes we expect a lot!

Anyway in a years time, we should be able to open a new chapter to the history of Arsenal Football Club. The club comes first not a single person's dream.

Should have been making that speech in 2011 to be honest.

Any chance Kroenke is putting the squeeze on things...in other words the money simply isnt there and Wenger is the enthuastic front man of a rotten regime.

Going next week to Villa game-will the atmosphere be poisonous?

Not adding quality players is scandalous, inept.

That said, the fact that Gervinho has gone leads me to believe we will be bringing some players in - but will they be good enough and why wait so damn long.

I do not want Suarez either, he doesnt want to join and wont hang about.
