That said, the fact that Gervinho has gone leads me to believe we will be bringing some players in - but will they be good enough and why wait so damn long.

I do not want Suarez either, he doesnt want to join and wont hang about.
Who would you rather we turned our attentions to? - seems to me we're pretty much out of viable options :? and the thought of having Giroud as first choice next season doesn't fill me with confidence either :o :(

I'd seriously consider Selena Gomez at this moment :banghead: :banghead:

The money to buy top quality players is there (anything from £70m - £85m)

The deadwood has largely been moved on freeing up the money for wages for 3 top quality players

Only 1 thing missing now - the actual top quality players that we desperately need to improve us as a team. :banghead: :banghead:

Not a player I like much but a decent signing for £17m.

Suarez is a quality footballer, but for the money, the aggro it just isnt worth it - we score goals, that isnt our problem really. Giroud is a good player, i wont be turned on that, he needs support and I agree he cant win the league on his own - but im more than happy with his contributions. Id like a striker, but id prefer a Goalkeeper and defender / defensive midfielder more.

All our eggs are in a Suarez shaped basket unfortunately, and for me, that solves very few of our obvious deficiences which is such a shame because we do have the makings of a very good side because we have some very, very good footballers who just need a little more quality around them.

I'm still expecting Bayern Munich to come swooping in and sign Suarez soon :?

If they have to sell, Liverpool will be desperate to sell him abroad and maybe even for a lower fee + Suarez does, to me at least, appear to suit Bayern Munich + his agent his Guardiola's brother! :o

BDB I appreciate we have different views on Giroud's quality but at the end of the day if you're trying to justify him as a first choice then you have to compare him to what our opponents have - and the difference between van Judas' contribution in a considerably poorer AFC side and Giroud's last season is monumental.

I was thinking that myself.A bit like the Van cuntface scenario with juve(apart from the fact the little boy inside him telling him to go to old traffart :rubchin: ) difference being the dippers wont lay down and have their tummy tickled for a few quid.

Im not saying for a second he is in VPs league - but we score goals across the side, Walcott, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud, OX, Arteta, Per  ..........scoring goals, whilst is an area that can be improved on...is not a major problem for us.

We have more serious problems that really hamper our ability to compete - THATS where $50m should be spent first.

Woould Suarez win us the league? For me, No. Would we win the league if we had a better Goalkeeper and some solidarity in defence......for me, we'd have much more of a chance.

I really do disagree that scoring goals isn't our problem. I think it is.

I thought we looked toothless for much of the season, and some bizarre high scoring games made our goals scored column disguise what I believe is a real problem for us.

Also not sure how you can be happy with Giroud's contribution. People quote the 17 goals he scored, but some of them were in the Carling Cup, and of his 11 league goals (which I don't think is great for a lone striker at a club like Arsenal) only 1 was away from home.
- I also don't think he gets involved enough, and is ineffective for large chunks of the game.

Still, each to their own. I do hope you're right about Giroud though!

He was playing in a new team in a new system (he is MADE for 442 but the stubborn old git wont try it now and again) and im happy, my opinion is he did enough to warrant a place in the side. You can say "bizzare games" but we still had to score the goals, no? They still count! Moreover, the support around him on the flanks (Walcott / Podolski / Ramsey  ) was awful at times, a Striker is sometimes only as good as the service.

I agree that Giroud is not World-class, Suarez is, but thats not what is stopping us from winning trophies right now - Suraez would be a luxury buy - we need to sort the fundamentals out first, because without that we will continue to be also-rans.

Re: g88ner.......Exactly, we didn't score more than 1 goal in a game against the teams above us last season. Giroud may be ok against some of the crap teams in the PL, but against top defenders, he is just plain poor.

I've got to disagree to be honest, Man U bought RVP and he basically won them the title with his form in the first few months of the season.
A top striker wins you games when you aren't playing well. Giroud will win us games when we are completely dominating teams and score goals from anywhere.

Giroud is shite that's what I think. Never in a million years is he good enough for a club like us.

Man United have a good Goalkeeper and can defend - thats what won them the league really, they are a good side all round. Van Persie is a world class player, you cannot comapre many strikers to him.

Any chance Kroenke is putting the squeeze on things...in other words the money simply isnt there and Wenger is the enthuastic front man of a rotten regime.

Going next week to Villa game-will the atmosphere be poisonous?
No signings, one poor performance or result and you can bet it definately will be.
