SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
I've been thinking - it's not who we buy or who we sell although if one goes back to first principles it is.
It's that we are about to start another season and I know we can't win the title. To not even be a realistic chance before a ball is kicked is pathetic for this club. We might as well be Fulham - actually scratch that as I like their tenacity - we might as well be a pretty stoke.
This is crap.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
SIgnings are an easy way to keep morale and optimism high during the start of the season.
Last year even though we lost van Judas (and everybody was pissed off at the way in which it happened) this place was infinitely more positive because we'd signed a gifted player in Cazorla, an experienced forward with a good reputation in Podolski and an unknown quantity in Giroud that given his goalscoring in the previous year and fee surely had to be quite decent. Even though we knew we weren't good enough to win the league there was at least some excitement about how these signings might turn out, to add to the prospect of Wilshere playing again at some point.
Now yes it transpired that Giroud is the worst advertisement for Ligue 1 since Gervinho, and Podolski was banished to the left wing, and we returned to normal service by the time Chelsea beat us 2-1. But at least there was an element of excitement and wonder at how these players would turn out and impact on the side, which is lacking this year.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Lets be honest, what on earth has our club got going for it that could attract Rooney or Suarez?
The part we could play in either transfer is as an enabler.
Once Liverpool indicate they will listen to offers Madrid will take over (its where he wants to go).
Same with Rooney, Chelsea have Mata, Hazard , Oscar + the new signings, coached by a hugely successful, inovative manager.
We have Arteta, Ramsey, & Walnut, with an intransigent coach, with a stale unchanging game plan.
Think about that, I know where I would expect to win things.

Watch Wenger behaves like a petulant child, he can't get or won't his so called 'super quality' signings so he spits the dummy and refuses to sign anyone, instead of thinking ok I can't win it this year but I am going to get a lost closer and look to improve and strength the squad year on year as the spuds seem to be doing.
In any other job, let alone football management surely with would be seen as negligent and the consequence should be quite obvious.

Have. We. Signed. Anybody. Yet?
I feel we are showing illusionary dominance in the transfer market but that we are lacking a little bit of sharpness in the final negotiation. I feel that we need to keep up the same mental strength, desire and spirit and we will soon see some super quality signings, as long as we don't negotiate with the handbrake on and providing Mr Gazidis & Mr Law don't become physically jaded.

Sebastián Pérez will be our defensive midfield signing then.....on trial from Atletico Nacional and in the squad for the game against City. That'll have Chavski and Man Ure running scared!!

if Anzhi want to cut their budget by 75% they have to let Eto'o gomcdowell42 wrote:Eto,seriously some of you guys need to have a day off.5/6 years back would have taken him,hes over 30 and on huge money @ tht russian crowd could you see him wanting to drop his 300k a week salary,he lost all credibility when he signed for them, like any player who went and joined them they did so for the money.Jesus guys whinge on here for signing over 30s and would now like us to take a guy who is on a massive salary.
he will be taking a paycut wherever he goes
As for only taking him 5/6 years back!??!
at least Samuel Eto'o will take some consolation from winning consecutive trebles once already past it at 26

Mate if Madrid were serious about signing Suarez they wouldn't wait until we'd agreed a fee and he was on the verge of going to swoop in. A couple of days after we launched the bid would have been perfect to pounce - when you consider the fuss he's kicked up to try and force a move to us, he'd probably have pissed on the Shankly Gates and the Hillsborough Memorial to push through a move to them - plus the Madrid option is a lot more palatable to Mousers now they've had time to digest our interest, and they'd be far more likely to get him and at a cheaper price if they went in directly rather than hoping Liverpool come round to the idea of selling him to us.foxinthebox2001 wrote:Lets be honest, what on earth has our club got going for it that could attract Rooney or Suarez?

We're still a massively attractive side for players to come to. CL football, based in a great city and a glamorous league - and we can pay pretty decent wages - and although we disagree with it Wenger is the sort of coach that players would still be persuaded by. Germany (other than Bayern) and Italy generally aren't particularly successful at attracting top foreign players to their leagues - we're really not far down the pecking order, it's just we won't spend.

Let me guess, a French-African player who got ridiculed on here (and Wenger abused, of course) at the very mention of our interest?
