So why are people so sure he couldn't offer us anything anymore? - has he "let himself go" Santos-style?

(I know his wages are ridiculous, but that's another issue... or maybe it's not if it's caused him to lose motivation and ambition)
The clue is that he's 32.... playing in a cow pat of a league... What kind of contract would we give him? One similar to the other geratric Silvestre?? Surely we should be targetting someone younger that Eto!!g88ner wrote:Not that I have an opinion either way (I've not seen him kick a ball since he left Inter) but plenty on here seem to be suggesting Eto'o is past it... but he's only 32 and always looked as fit as a fiddle to me.- he also seemed to have a quick, clever strikers brain that age doesn't tend to steal away.

Agreed, I'd imagine we can - and should - do better. But being 32 doesn't necessarily mean you have nothing to offer.franksav63 wrote:The clue is that he's 32.... playing in a cow pat of a league... Rodgers is out of his depth simples. This is new territory for him - having to deal with a wantaway world class star. He's made a complete twat of himself so far and continues to undermine himself with each passing day. Cavani slagged him off as well, saying "he should look up the words 'respect' and 'loyalty'". Ouch!!!augie wrote:mcdowell42 wrote:According to SSN suarez has no intention of making an apology to his teammates as he feels he has done nothing wrong.
Why should he apologise ? He talked about wanting to leave the club for a champs league team and he talked about broken promises by the manager and the club but at no stage did he mention or disrespect his team-mates. Rodgers is coming out of this looking like a right d***head and if he cannot see that his words can only inflame the situation and solidify the cannibal's stance then he is a fool
Love the comments underneath from Liverpool fansRed Gunner wrote: And doesn't Suarez sound like Arshavin:

I agree it's almost impossible for him to play for them now, unless he absolutely eats his own pride and apologises and I can't see him doing that as pride tastes nothing like as good as a human arm.goonersid wrote:The whole Suarez thing has been handled poorly by the mousers and rodgers in particular, I can't honestly see how he can ever play for them again.
I feel any chance we had of signing him went, when Wenger/Galzidis or whoever thought that making the arrogant condescending offer of +£1.00, it showed a real lack of respect, something which has become par for the course with Arsenal when dealing with both fans and other clubs.
I reckon the mousers would sell him to a foreign club tomorrow just to get rid of him and as much as I hate them, I will admire their refusal to sell to us, particularly if it means he has to stay put. Something our profit driven club would never do.
