Re: Coquelin/Frimpong/Yennaris and Youths, Angha/Crowley
Hence the difficulty with campaigning about the owner. All he has to do is turn up at the AGM and squirm for two hours whilst Gazidis and Wenger (and now our mate Chips) field the questions and then he can spend the rest of the year fucking about on his ranch. He can't be pressured into selling, he can't be pressured into allowing us to spend, he can't even be pressured to invite a 30% shareholder onto the board. He doesn't even have to listen or read about any protests or complaints about him.
Imo we need change at board and manager level, but whilst I applaud those like BSM who vocalise the fans' feelings towards Kroenke and the board I think that public dissatisfaction towards Wenger will be far more successful as unlike Kroenke he's more likely to throw a series of hissy fits and hopefully fuck off at the end of the season if he's criticised.

It is a good article though - interesting but simple analysis on things like our operating profit/loss and what we could realistically afford to spend at this point.
And a 38% rise in our wage bill since 2009 is a complete disgrace bearing in mind who we've sold in that time. He also makes the point I've made about new deals for the British contingent last season being glossed over when people are talking about wage bill savings from the 'deadwood'. Like I said, don't expect a year-on-year reduction in our wage bill.

Very interesting. And I think it once again shows who has been the problem all along. As much as I loathe the Emirates, financially it has been a success so the lack of proper investment in the team since we moved there is down to one man and one man alone.Chippy wrote:This is a rather excellent blog post on why we have loadsamoney and should spend it.

@swissramble 's excellent post also shows that with property sales all but completed, player sales are vital, otherwise we make an operating loss.
Wenger is good at making profit from player sales, hence Stan Kroenke will hardly be looking to get rid of Wenger anytime soon.
On one of the rare occasions he has actually spoken in public, Kroenke said he is involved with Arsenal for the trophies, but if you ask me, his actions so far suggest otherwise.

With nearly 200 mill in the bank don't think we are doing too bad can see two things happening in the next year either dividends will be drawn out of the club or a takeover (hopefully} .QuartzGooner wrote:@swissramble 's excellent post also shows that with property sales all but completed, player sales are vital, otherwise we make an operating loss.

Re: The Board-Finance-Kroenke
Our operating losses have been rendered irrelevant by the huge cash reserves we've been sitting on throughout the trophyless years (that various board members have repeatedly and publicly offered to the manager), and the knowledge that the old, desperate, front-loaded sponsorship deals would soon be replaced by massively more lucrative ones. Wenger makes a profit on player sales bacause he WANTS to, not because he HAS to. Kroenke is guilty of negligence at best and compliance at worst, but to ignore (as the BSM continue to do) the biggest problem at this football club, Wenger's self-indulgent false economy of a transfer policy, will merely prolong our agony and misery for a further 3-5 years.QuartzGooner wrote:@swissramble 's excellent post also shows that with property sales all but completed, player sales are vital, otherwise we make an operating loss.

Re: The Board-Finance-Kroenke
we needed to generate £19M a year to cover our wage bill
but that was before the new TV deal, new shirt sponsorship deal and new shirt maker deal
our wage bill may have been bumped by Feo and the Britcore boys new contracts
but we've actually continued flogging some of our top earners - Arshavin, Gervinho, Squillaci and Chakah were all on decent wedge
and obv Cesc, Na$ri, Song, Clichy and vanStaplec*nt were all very well paid
we've now got a very small first team and a substantially reduced youth team, wage bill has to be smaller.

Re: The Board-Finance-Kroenke
Is that Wenger's socialist wage bill that made our talented players want to leave and gave our young/inexperienced/crap players absolutely no incentive to improve or work harder? No idea what point you're trying to make but all Wenger's doing now is very belated correcting some of his very many mistakes.highburyJD wrote:we needed to generate £19M a year to cover our wage bill

I am someone who wants more spent on players, better players, but I disagree with things in your post.Trevor Ross wrote:Our operating losses have been rendered irrelevant by the huge cash reserves we've been sitting on throughout the trophyless years (that various board members have repeatedly and publicly offered to the manager), and the knowledge that the old, desperate, front-loaded sponsorship deals would soon be replaced by massively more lucrative ones. I see that you want more spent on players, so do I, but am not sure what logical point you are trying to make with your further discussion of the finances?
The operating loss cannot be irrelevant.
If we continually make a loss we are in shtuck, so just because we have cash in the bank now, does not mean we can spend the lot.
The welcome money from property sales is almost at an end.
Prize and TV money is great, but prize money is not guaranteed.
The new sponsorship deals should be nice, but are not the answer to everything.
We have to make a net profit by selling players for profit, as the way things are currently run, we have other way of taking our accounts into profit.
Under the terms and conditions of the stadium bonds we have to pay off £20M per year for the stadium, until 2031.
That is £360M we owe, over 18 more years.
Our cash reserves at £154M would currently only cover seven years repayments.

Re: The Board-Finance-Kroenke
You don't sound remotely like someone who 'wants more spent on players, better players' when you ignore the fact that swiss ramble (if you're assuming him as the gospel) said that we could be due approximately another £40m from property sales. I never mentioned prize and TV money, probably should've done. And our cash reserves could last ONLY 7 years, WOW, I'm amazed you even manage to step outside your front door every day, what with the pollution and the chance of you being hit by a buy a bus. You hero! AKBs everywhere will be proud of you.QuartzGooner wrote:I am someone who wants more spent on players, better players, but I disagree with things in your post.Trevor Ross wrote:Our operating losses have been rendered irrelevant by the huge cash reserves we've been sitting on throughout the trophyless years (that various board members have repeatedly and publicly offered to the manager), and the knowledge that the old, desperate, front-loaded sponsorship deals would soon be replaced by massively more lucrative ones.
