It has been handled absolutely atrociously, as expected of that arrogant prick Rodgers and the clueless owners they have. Despite what had gone before they could have salvaged the situation due to the gullibility of their fans, who showed at Gerrard's testimonial they were willing to pretend the media had misrepresented things again and that they were willing to welcome his back with open arms.

But Brendan Rodgers couldn't resist taking the moral high ground and having another swipe at Suarez so that now they're left in a situation where even Victim fans can't ignore and forgive his actions, he can't sell to Arsenal or he'll completely lose face and obviously no European suitor is going to come in with a bid of anywhere near that or they'd have done so already. Rodgers not only insisted on turning the Liverpool fans against him, he clearly lied by suggesting Suarez had told him he was happy to stay. Add Suarez's claims about the contract and Rodgers' assurances last year and there's no way he's going to apologise - nor should he.

Only resolution I can see is that sometime after the window closes Rodgers declares that Suarez has made peace with his team-mates (even though he's never going to apologise) and he's subsequently sold for cheaper than he would have been either in Jan or early next summer. All because of Rodgers' ego. Although it'll be interesting if Madrid or somebody come in with a £30m bid in the last few days of the window...

Hannibal is going, of that there is no doubt, what the Bin Dippers need to decide if they want what we're offering (a la RvSC for us last season), or they dig their heels in and sell abroad for less next year.

If somebody photoshopped his face onto an emergency service worker from Hillsborough footage their fans would probably believe it and go wild about it. Suarez won't issue a full-scale apology (and shouldn't!) so a few throwaway, meaningless quotes to Uruguayan media will surely see Rodgers smugly declaring he's apologised (as well as inventing more private conversations between them). Suarez's position will just about be tenable until he's sold abroad at the first opportunity whilst Brendan Rodgers turns his diplomatic skills to engineering a peace in the Middle East.
