Villa match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Tis gonna be a long season with the happy lads cheering us on, eh?

Honestly, being on the outside and looking in on the despondency here sometimes, makes me feel like mister bleeding, fucking happy sometimes.

Fuck my grammar too.

Didn't notice mate, first thoughts that came to mind were 1) he must be from Wiltshire  and 2) I wonder what his granny looks like

The fact that wenger has behaved this way just shows us how stable he really is at his job, how much chance there is of him being sacked no matter what happens. I personally feel he'll make a signing before the end of the season, but his primary motive is getting eisfeld gnabry akpom miyachi zalalem etc some major playing time. Lets face it if he spends big he'll undo all the good work hes done in the past few years and im okay with that but clearly he is not. If he cant buy a ronaldo or bale he wants to make one himself. Unfortunately it doesnt always work that way and we're going to learn this the hard way.

on the international players…
We have positive news from the players on international duty. All the texts we had have back are OK. The games were quite intense but we hope everyone comes back in good shape.

on Cazorla’s international in Ecuador…
He played almost a full game. He only lands in London tonight [Thursday] so we’ll see how he is tomorrow.

on Mikel Arteta…
Mikel has a slight thigh problem. We have to check that. I don’t know if he will be out for the weekend. He has a scan today.

on Nacho Monreal (back)…
He should join up with the squad for full training in 10 days. He is out for the weekend of course.

on Thomas Vermaelen (back)…
It is a while longer for him. It is difficult to put a timescale on it but it will be a bit longer. He is progressing OK.

on Abou Diaby (knee)…
It is longer still for him but again the timescale is difficult. He is a few months in and it was expected to be nine months.

on Ryo (rib)…
He is close and he should be back with the training group next week.

I see Moyes has made top sports story on BBC by shooting his mouth off about the fixture list - claiming that it was extremely hard to believe that they were done honestly and suggesting United had been shafted because they won the league easily last year.

Ferguson constantly came out with provocative statements and was extremely disingenuous but could get away with it because of his achievements, his reputation and his position within the game. Moyes is just making himself look nervous and it's only going to increase question marks about his ability to cope at this level if they do start badly. On the plus side I'm glad he's making it so easy to fiercely dislike the bitter moaning bastard.
