SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Offically perhaps, but I'm not sure it is in reality - not in any tangible way at least.

We don't show the ambition in the transfer market, and are too willing to sell our best players to convince me we're doing everything to target first place.
- in fact, I reckon if we seriously thought we could win the title last season, we would have held RVP to his contract and given it a go.

The fact we caved in and sold him to United was surely evidence we didn't really truly believe we were capable of winning the title.

And if you don't agree, ask yourself this - would we have sold RVP to Sp*rs under the same circumstances? I'm not so sure we would, because it would probably have lost us our CL place. And that is our TRUE target every season.

Surely even this regime wouldn't sell anyone to that lot under any circumstances. Would they? :rubchin:

Bemuses me that a player can't get a work permit to be employed by a PL football club and contribute tens of thousands a year in taxes (at least).

As for Gustavo the Wolfsburg reports are not conclusive - at the same time other arguably equally reliable sources have claimed we'll tie the deal up before the Villa game. I have to say given the comments by him and his representatives about Arsenal and Napoli it would seem strange if he went to Wolfsburg, although saying that the fact he has reportedly been saying for a few days he'd be making a statement Thursday suggests the deal has been tied up since the start of the week, and I've twice seen him make reference to professional and personal problems persuading him to move.

If he did go there I think you'd actually need to know his motivations - if it's a case of us not paying the money (unlikely if he goes to Wolfsburg for the reported fee unless our interest wasn't true at all) then fair enough take your shots, but if he wanted to join Wolfsburg because football isn't that important to him then that's not necessarily our fault.

I am so glad I am going to be on the other side of the world 2nd September and not trying to mod this place when that window slams shut.

Ha, that will just about sum it all up, an international player chooses to join a mid table club instead of Arsenal!! Fookin' hilarious!!
I'm not even bothering with the papers now, not after Higuain was announced as a done deal by everyone but it definitely shows we won't sign any twat until our match vs Fener, and by then it'll be too late.

I don't get it, even if we lose to Fener they'll be kicked out anyway, so why the bastard bollocks are we sitting on our mountain of cash while everyone else snaps up all the available talent?

I honestly can't get my head around our business model sometimes.

Think there may be merit in shutting this place down around then!

This summer's been an absolute shambles, just glad the Cricket has been good to keep my mind off it. I've even had Wednesday fans taking the piss ffs

His ego has gone out of control ever since this bust of him was made. Never build busts/statues for people still servicing the club. Daft move from the club but not at all surprising. Fucking idiots the lot of them.

As it stands them lot down the road have a better team and are easily more likely to finish above us this season. In a way wouldn't it be great to see the *word censored* that is Wenger bow out with humiliation come May?

Wouldn't surprise me, I don't think we'll sign anyone until after (if) we qualify for Europe. By that time there will be no-one left but cast-offs and rejects from other clubs.

How much do you want for Gundogan?
