Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Not even the most ardent window licking AKB sheep can have faith in the lunatic after the shambles of a summer he has overseen. I refuse to believe we are the minority anymore. The monumental fuck up that has been this transfer window has tipped the balance.

window is not yet shut, obviously we will buy
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Really it all comes down to selling JVP doesn't it. Would it really have done us such financial harm to have kept hold of him in his last contract year. BVB are doing it with Lewandowski and they are far worse off financially than us. If we'd kept him we might have won the title with his goals last year and he may have had a change of heart and signed on. If the issue was about the wages then we should've given him whatever he asked for, seeing how hard it is to sign a world class striker as we're now finding out, with all clubs telling us where to go after bidding for their top strikers. On top of all that we had to sell him to a fucking rival but the *word censored* in charge couldn't see past the ££££ signs.

Obviously we will spend, but day after day, the quality of player available is reduced. What is the point in signing anyone, if they are in the Santos or Gervinho level of quality.

You'd be amazed Rodders. Loads of the same people lamenting our inactivity now will in several months time be chastising others for demanding 'Football Manager' style success, wildly celebrating 4th and then insisting that this is the window we'll strengthen because Wenger's learned his lessons.rodders999 wrote:Not even the most ardent window licking AKB sheep can have faith in the lunatic after the shambles of a summer he has overseen. Although I do for the first time believe with some conviction that Wenger won't be here in 12 months. They'll never sack him and the contract's there if he wants it (as he'll make sure everyone knows) but he doesn't take criticism well - and if the fans vocalise discontent the media will run and run and run with it until we piece together enough wins to satisfy the milder of the boo boys. His pissy fit at Villa Park press conference last season are a sign of things to come if the fans start to question him and although he'll never accept he's done anything less than a great job if he gets some prolonged and serious stick next season I think he'll pack it in.

Looks like Wolfsburg are going to sign Luiz Gustavo:

I can understand a Champions League team (Napoli) beating us to a player but a mid-table Bundesliga side
We either offered Bayern/Luiz Gustavo peanuts or we never in for the guy. And if we weren't in for him, why weren't we? We need a DM.
I guess we are going for Sergio Buscuits, Schweinsteiger and Vidal. Why settle for the second best when you can get the best?

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
If he goes Wolfsburg he's going there for a cheap fee and given that he's twice cited "personal circumstances" being an issue at Bayern it won't be for footballing reasons. Hardly going to be more beneficial to his WC prospects than playing every week at us or Napoli.
Of course it's a different situation if we weren't actually in for him at all. You could even argue had we made this move 6 weeks ago - when it was obvious Guardiola wasn't going to start 9 midfielders every week - that we may have got our man (instead of only picking targets who we know are already unsettled). But then why limit that criticism to Gustavo? Or 2013 for that matter?
If he does go to Wolfsburg then expect us to ensure Suarez re-emerge - this should buy us enough respite that by the time people accept he's not coming the season will be in full swing and it'll be the last week of the window, allowing Wenger to make the £6-12m signings from Ligue 1 he's been desperate to make all along.

If it's true that we're quibbling over £3m quid then I despair. We'd make that back in shirt sales and the gate receipts from the first home game of the season.Red Gunner wrote:Looks like Wolfsburg are going to sign Luiz Gustavo:

I can't believe we're seriously in for him otherwise we'd pay up, it's less than we offerd for Lars Bender

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
is it just me, or did Bayern sign up some top top quality players in April on pre contracts ? - Goetze wasn't it ?
why weren't we tapping these players in April ?
utter incompetence.

We only sign top quality..out steps Santos.

I imagine it's because we won't commit financially until we've secured our position in the CL. That and Arsene likes to nickle-and-dime at the fag end of the transfer window.clockender1 wrote:is it just me, or did Bayern sign up some top top quality players in April on pre contracts ? - Goetze wasn't it ?

He's treaded water this way for years, and to be fair he's got away with it, but we are seriously under strength now and the list of quality players is ever dwindling.

WENGER, GAZIDIS, LAW OUT. Retards to a man.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Agreed BUT they will be basement buys, will have missed pre-season and will take 6-8 games to get up to speed. The other thing is the current squad, while on the face of it being keen for new blood, will inevitably have anxiety about any new signings as they put pressure on their own position. Seems to me Wenger has no emotional intelligence. Buying late is unsettling for the current players and disruptive overall. The likes of Chelsea and City are effectively settled - the new guys know their place and the incumbents know if they have retained their spot in the pecking order. Plus they all know if X needs the ball played just short, in front, always gets a bit forward, doesn't track back, gets stuck in or back of in 50-50s, hogs the ball or looks to space etc etc - It will be October before our guys have a clue AGAIN!!highburyJD wrote:window is not yet shut, obviously we will buy
Got to admire Mourinho - does his business fast and effectively, takes opportunities and is pro active in warding off unwelcome suitors ALTHOUGH i think they need a striker as much as we do.
We are $hit!
