Quite interested to hear you put forward any sort of defence for this transfer window?

I imagine you'll offer some polite condemnation of our failure to act once it closes, but this will be forgotten when we scrape into 4th in May (ignoring the fact that a manager that didn't treat the club's money like his own life savings would have gone out and strengthened the squad - possibly to an extent where we could challenge for trophies).

A managers job is to bring a side to reach its maximum potential, and for AFC that is not fourth place. Wenger has created his own definition of success, and it seems no one is allowed question it. You know things are going bad when you see Wigan, Swansea, Portsmouth, and Birmingham all with medals to show, since the last time we won a trophy.

Totally agree. We are a huge club being ran(into the ground) by small minded men  I wish that all of the above mentioned would just get the fuck out of our club.

Agreed 100% with both of you. 8)

Fucking shameful that a club that won 2 doubles and went a season unbeaten in the last decade or so is in the state it's in at present - a fucking real estate business with a football club precariously tacked onto the side of it. :x

Next May is the 10th anniversary of the last PL we won. In May 2004 if you'd said to me we won't win it again in the next 10 years I'd have thought you were fucking mental. :|

They not allowed to join your gang cos they supported their football team through thick and thin Augie

Maybe we should adopt gang names from "The Warriors" film, you can be "The Judas Bunch"  and the AKB's can be "The Homeboys" (yes both these are gang names from the film  ).

Anyhow I'm not in either gang, I do want change at the club and certainly new quality signings (but I've wanted that for years) and think Wenger has had his best days but I won't chuck abuse at him, he has done a remarkable job for us and somehow managed to keep us in the CL.

Saying that I am bored with the whole cl competition, especially our part in it, it's just so predictable.

Wenger and Arsenal are like an old marriage where the couple just go through the motions  with no excitement in their mundane partnership with just acceptance of the whole thing.

Now if they could just muster the bravery to split up both would realise that there is something out there that invigorates and excites again.....thats what the marriage guidance counsellor said to me anyway

Remarkable that he keeps us in CL? it would be remarkable only if he hadn't.

Realistically, how many teams have we been competing with for this, since 2006? There are 4 places available and weve consistently had one of the highest wage bills in the league.

If the reason we couldnt win the league was money, then equally it doesnt take a genius to qualify for a competition where you outspend on salaries your direct competition, who happen to be few in number anyway

Remarkalbe in that 99% of posters say our squad has been shit for years, so either he has done well with a shit squad or the players are far better than you suggest.

We have the 4th largest wage bill but came 3rd two years ago, is this not OVER achieving :rubchin:

And before that we had larger wage bills and lower finishes....swings and roundabouts :-)

The basic point remains the same. The objective is champions league football, it is achieved. But it is not remarkable - that would be winning som ething :barscarf:

If you consider NETT spend he has achieved more than any manager in the league has he not :barscarf:

As I said I want change but my argument still stands, he has achieved, yes if he had spent the extra money on big players then we could have won something.

Spurs have spent over £630 million since the premiership started, the most without winning a MAJOR title, could be worse I guess.

Anyhow I'm still playing cricket at the weekends (although I have a footie friendly tonight) so just have a look on here to see the meltdown and play devils advocate.

Lefty that isn't what I was saying and you know that - what I am saying is that this truth was staring people in the face for the past few years but they chose to ignore it and the fact that these people are now claiming shock at our lack of transfer activity seems astounding to me. If I am guilty of anything in my previous post it would be the "I told you so" under current but this isn't a gang thing by any means. If I'm honest I also feel resentment towards the fans that are now (finally) questioning wenker cos it is those very same fans that have allowed the guy remain in his 7.5m a season job, unchallenged, for the past few seasons because I still remain convinced that it will be up to the fans to drive this dictator out of our club. The decline of this great club and it's ambitions hasn't happened over night and maybe as a group the Gooner nation should have been more aware of that so that we wouldn't have let things slide to where we are now

For me the amount the old c.unt spends is largely irrelevant - the issue for me is that he has consistently refused to spend the budget he has available to him. If he only had 20m to spend then I would expect him to spend every penny of that in a bid to improve us but instead he has sat on it to the point that all of our quality players have fcuked off and we are now left largely with a group of average cocky footballers who think that they are better than they actually are  Of course if we had of signed a few leaders then they might have stopped that arrogance creeping in but of course players like that might challenge wenker's power structure at the club and we cant have that can we ? People cannot, in my opinion, defend wenker on the basis of how he finishes in the top 4 despite spending the square root of fcuk all cos the reality is that he and he alone has chosen to hoard the cash

But surely you were part of the problem too mate, after all weren't you buying 2 season tickets up until this season?

EVERYONE that has been paying for season tickets is part of the problem then?

I stopped buying tickets 2 years ago when I couldn't be arsed to buy tickets for me and my son (with travel etc spending £200 a game) when the club won't spend on quality signings.

Now if season ticket sales had dropped to a level that forced the club to change their transfer policy or better still let wenger go and bring in a new manager that would spend money then THAT is doing something.

Problem witht the last scenario is that who would be willing to lose their season tickets that they have had to wait an age for then put themselves back on the list when a new manager comes in and buys the necessary players.

After all if a new manager came in and won trophies and played good football you could be years on that waiting list cos no one is gonna give up season tickets when their team is winning stuff.

Chicken and the egg stuff I guess.....anyhow my dig at you was light hearted as you know, but you didn't need to point out your "told you so" attitude, it's evident in every post
