THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I sincerely hope that some Gooner - the bigger the better - runs onto the pitch - well the side track Dug Out on Saturday - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX....I'd help pay his fine and solicitor's costs.

Vilas Boas:'We have been very active in the transfer window - not just players coming in, but players going out. The ultimate objective is to make the team stronger than the year before,' he said.
'We couldn’t manage to get in the top four spot we wanted [last season]. Our ambition stays the same and for that to happen we have been very, very active in the transfer window. We are trimming down the squad to make it strong.
'We haven’t finished our business. We will continue to be active and hopefully have the team ready in the next few weeks.'

Apparently that Gustavo is going to Wolfsburg. I actually find this funny. I really do, it's like Mr Bean idiocy.

As I said I want change but my argument still stands, he has achieved, yes if he had spent the extra money on big players then we could have won something.

Spurs have spent over £630 million since the premiership started, the most without winning a MAJOR title, could be worse I guess.

Anyhow I'm still playing cricket at the weekends (although I have a footie friendly tonight) so just have a look on here to see the meltdown and play devils advocate.

For me the amount the old c.unt spends is largely irrelevant - the issue for me is that he has consistently refused to spend the budget he has available to him. If he only had 20m to spend then I would expect him to spend every penny of that in a bid to improve us but instead he has sat on it to the point that all of our quality players have fcuked off and we are now left largely with a group of average cocky footballers who think that they are better than they actually are  Of course if we had of signed a few leaders then they might have stopped that arrogance creeping in but of course players like that might challenge wenker's power structure at the club and we cant have that can we ? People cannot, in my opinion, defend wenker on the basis of how he finishes in the top 4 despite spending the square root of fcuk all cos the reality is that he and he alone has chosen to hoard the cash

If I misunderstood your post earlier then you have mammothly misunderstood all my posts, I am not a Wenger defender, I play the devils advocate, if people have a strong view but seem somewhat biased then I like to point to other possibilities so that they can further explain their point, mostly their wrong or just confused or just angry

Somewhere amongst all of this there is a middle ground, so lets all meet on that middle ground..... for a BBQ :barscarf:

Fcuk steve o and his mythical BBQ

I agree with what you say re loyal season ticket holders being part of the problem and that is one of the reasons I gave mine up albeit a bit later than I should have done

I know that you were not defending wenker earlier but I was just trying to blow holes in your devils advocate theory before those akb log on here citing your post as a reason to defend the senile old c.unt  I actually don't usually go down the "I told you so" line - tbh I don't actually get any enjoyment from being right on the wenker issue cos all that means is that we are all majorly pissed off at the way our club is being run but if I was wrong then we would all be revelling in a successful club again and that is def preferable.

Nice one mate, I feel a long season coming and tbh I will come on here knowing that I'm not the only one who's weekend can be ruined by a football result (I say weekend, I mean until the inevitable fog descends as I get trollied on saturday night  ).

BUT don't worry mate we will sign 4 world class players in the next week or so and all will be ros......fuck it can't be arsed :?

100% agree, but he isnt going anywhere. If we come fourth, he gets a new contract, if we win the league cup, he gets a new contract, even if we dont get fourth, the club will sau, its only one bad season, and he will be offered a new contract. :banghead:
