SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Everyone in football both inside and outside the club knows that he's a tactical moron and a coaching imbecile. The only players coming in over the next two panic weeks will be average ones that their own clubs want rid of. Same as usual then.
I heard a story on the radio recently that Wenger wasn't looking at Cazorla and only moved when someone (agent?) advised him Malaga were skint and if he bid x amount he would be able to sign him.

If true it's kinda strange that a man who seems to know football would be unaware of available talent. I wonder if the board will go above his head now to sanction deals as Wenger seems unable to decide on who to buy?

Sid Lowe wrote in the guardian that la Liga clubs had been forced for financial reasons to offload 70 players this summer.
Only the desperate will sign for us now. There's a stench of decay and demoralisation about the club and players.
Which other club, on day 1 of a new season, had its captain call for fans to rally behind the team?
Wenger will have to panic buy now as the injuries are already mounting up.

Sounds like modern day Arsenal, doesn't it. I think you're right about the board going over his head now. They did that two years ago when he was at a football exhibition in Switzerland on transfer deadline day and I think he's had the hump ever since. It's got to the stage now surely when he needs sitting down in a meeting and being told that these are the players who are having and here is how much they will cost and if you don't like it then fuck off. As each year goes by, he causes more and more damage. Quite frankly, it's ultimatum time. This is the way we are doing it so do it or go.

Under normal circumstances I'd be disgusted if the board went over the manager's head to recruit but right now I wouldn't trust Wenger to be able to sign Messi or Ronaldo if they were both free and practically begging to join Arsenal.

Hate to play devils advocate but surely *some* blame has to go to our scouts and agents? It can't be all AW surely.

Board, Manager, coaching staff and scouts are all culpable to some degree or other.

Yes partly, but the book stops with Wenker. He signs the fuckers, and no doubt tells the scouts and agents what he wants (cheap, French, with one half decent season in fance behind them)

Rooneys used to winning things, and although he played under a *word censored* in Ferguson why the fuck would he want to play under the biggest *word censored* ever in Wenger, nobody in their right mind would want to join us

He will stay at United - FACT
United will win at least one more trophy - FACT

We will sign another squad rotation player on deadline day and pocket another transfer window profit - FACT

By the way - FACT - is in memory of the great Babatunde who is no longer allowed to post here :(
