Borussia Dortmund have trebled Robert Lewandowski's wages in a belated attempt to ward off Manchester United.

This year's Champions League finalists have upped his pay to £75,000-a-week for the final year of his contract with them.

Dortmund will reluctantly consider selling the Poland striker if anyone - bar Bayern Munich - matches their £25.5million asking price and Real Madrid are also monitoring developments.

I don't know what Wenger's mentality is. I guess he thinks you're better placed to get a cheap deal closer to the end of the window. But surely anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence would understand that no club would sell a high quality, important player (which is what we need) with the window about to slam shut, and having very little chance of replacing them. Ridiculous.
