SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

nope.

I think played through the middle with decent wing support from a winger and wide midfielders and fullback pod will do just fine.

remember he was stuck out wide most of last year, with forehead through the middle. or Giroud.

All these transfer rumours, have zero basis. Wengers comment about buying players, which he made after last nights game has provided the media with the chance to spread bullshit. Realistic buys will be Flamini(on a free)Cabaye, and Michu, but we are never buying the likes of Di Maria.

Very true, although his fitness may be an issue now. Does anyone know how he played following his injury?

Still just feels like a panic buy and a stop gap solution though.

Benzema isn't coming
Di Maria isn't coming

That mercenary :censored: Flamini is definitely coming on the cheap. Apart from his ridiculous wage of course :cussing:

Have to admit, I'm rather looking forward to seeing Flamini in our squad :barscarf:

He was one of my favourite players in his last spell at the club, and I always appreciated his energy, determination and focus. I also respected the way he tried to gee others up around him and lead by example on the pitch.

I also completely understood his reasons for wanting to play for AC Milan (for starters, his father is Italian), and also have no problem with a player honouring his contract before deciding to walk away.

So, for me, if we sign him, he comes with no need to apologise or make amends. He did nothing wrong, and always fought hard for the team when he played.

Only thing for me is whether he's a good enough squad player or not. If he is, great. If not, I'll criticise Wenger for signing him. For now, the jury is out.

never pays to go back, I see Flamini as a short term stop gap, filling in for Arteta, never really was a first teamer, and had one half season filling in for others, just like this time for Arteta, didn't really set the world alight at Milan either

But i suppose for a free and as long as we are not paying mega wages, ok as a squad player.

on the subject of bringing back oldies, why not bring Lass Diarra back from Anzhi, still only 27 and i am sure could do a good Def Midfield job for us

Matty Flamini on a free

Mixed feelings on this...

Negatives
- Obviously he's older now
- Came back from a terrible injury recently
- Not "top quality"
- Possibly past his best

Positives
- Great utility player, can fill in at multiple positions
- PL + CL experience, knows the Arsenal system
- An absolute FIGHTER, and WINNER, which is what we need
- Solves the problematic DM position, which has been an issue ever since he left....ironically!
- Costs fuck all, so right up our street

well said.

he was a dynamo alongside Cesc. there was one game where he ran his heart out then scored and went mental. i thought he truly loved the club.

making it in Italy is not easy - ask Dennis, TH14 and Paddy.
