Did anyone notice Mertsacker grab Sanogo's arm in the defensive wall second half - gave him a death stare. Not much respect going on for the new boy.

I don't like to be harsh on the kid, and it's not his fault he's been chucked in "at the deep end", but he proved again tonight that he is about a million miles away from being ready to play football at this level.

Honestly, he is abysmal. The fact that Wenger has signed him as some kind of genuine, realistic option for our first team should be enough for him to walk away. He would have trouble cutting it at Peterborough...

I noticed that as well. Here's the video:

Very odd incident. What the hell was Sanogo doing with his arm? :?

Looks like he's covering his face. Good on Mertesacker for pulling him up.

Saw him tonight for first time |in person".

Played one very good bit of short passing skill showing close control, but otherwise was really of the pace.
Pace is by no means everything for a forward, but he did not have anywhere near the type of explosive pace over five yards needed for a striker who plays his style of football.

Whether this is always the case, or because he is returning from injury or "bedding in" nerves I have no idea, but what does he bring to the table that Afobe or Akpom do not?

I noticed that during the game as well. Looks like the BFG slapped his arm down as a gesture to tell him to man the fuck up, since the clown was covering his face. Bloody wuss.

I thought that initially then thought no way maybe just wiping his brow - Per certainly straightened him out. If he was actually covering his face then he should pack his bags because that is absurd.

First two touches were unbelievably bad last night, in the context of a tie that was already over it was laughable but in the context of him being Arsenal's only signing this window (so far)..it is a sad indictment of the ambition of a club.

So far he doesn't look to have any composure whatsoever. Everything he does seems rushed and awkward. :?

Obviously nerves play a part, but still - it's a dreadful start to his Arsenal career. I don't think I'd trust him to trap a bag of cement at the moment, such is his poor touch.

The lad doesn't look like he should be anywhere near the first team yet Wenger's comments the other week (below), which was basically lecturing everyone on judging a player on what they do on the pitch and not the price tag, seems a little bizarre given his start
“We have signed Sanogo, he has not made the headlines. Why? Because he is not £50m to £100 million, but I am quite confident he will make them soon on the pitch, and that for me is the most important,” the Arsenal boss said.
Surely, rather that not making the headlines because he did't cost £50-100m, it's because he's not worthy of a headline, given how little he's done in his career to date? and - after his start for us - I'd suggest any headlines remain some way off :?

He is a bit like Carzola, in that I can't quite tell if he is left or right footed.
