Seems to me Bale was told he could move a while ago and Spurs are hanging him out to dry pretending the deal isn't done because they're wary that when the deal happens the other English clubs are going to be swarming around Madrid players like flies on shit.
I don't doubt Spurs would have tried to engineer a part-exchange in there but despite their 'new dawn' none of the Madrid squad would have been keen on the switch.

Did their business early and can now drag their feet to stall everyone else's deals. What a novel idea, why didn't the world coach of the decade ever think of this?northbank123 wrote:Seems to me Bale was told he could move a while ago and Spurs are hanging him out to dry pretending the deal isn't done because they're wary that when the deal happens the other English clubs are going to be swarming around Madrid players like flies on shit.

Yep - they've played their hand well. Will get a ridiculous fee for Bale and have gone about signing players the right way. Let's not get carried away - they'll still be scrapping around with us for 4th and they can't actually attract top players there but their plan this window shits all over our 2011 brainwave of burying our heads in the sand and pretending (nay insisting) that Fabregas and Nasri were going nowhere.Dan_85 wrote:Did their business early and can now drag their feet to stall everyone else's deals. Kalou - that guy has no bollocks. He will fit in nicely.
I think we will see Kalou and Cabaye, plus that that French guy from St Etienne with a bunch of 'g's in his name.
Hey. that's five fucking signings, what are we complaining about? Diaby to come back as well, that makes six.

If Draxler was any good he'd have been snapped up by Bayern by now. Instead he's German fourth place specialists Schalke's poster boy
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Maybe they wouldn't come to us but they ended up at Spurs - Soldado Paulinho,Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela - some of them can play a bit. Now, so late, what big signing can we make that will give the seller time to restock therein requiring a premium price. I don't think he is very astute.northbank123 wrote:I don't agree Swifty - considering our position (consistently far away from winning trophies) I think we're still an attractive proposition for players. Higuain would have come, Suarez would have come as would have countless other quality players had we agreed fees. Yeah we're still not able to shop at the top table but saying that neither are the likes of Citeh, United or Chelsea and without doubt if we were willing to spend the money we would have been able to put together a squad capable of winning the league this season.Swifty wrote:You can bag Mourinho and Fergie but at least players wanted to play for them - no one wants to play for Wenger (or Moyes). AVB even has more pull than Wenger and he still has training wheels.
Who have Spurs signed (because of AVB) that wouldn't have come to us?![]()
Every day I get home from work and chuckle when I see that we've made no visible efforts to sign anyone decent.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
The same could have been said about Reus when he was playing for Mönchengladbach. Don't think his lack of Bayern makes his credentials any weaker, but who are we kidding, we're never paying £40mil on anyoneLeyton Gooner wrote:If Draxler was any good he'd have been snapped up by Bayern by now. Whats with Ju-Young Park,a few weeks ago we were going to release him ,he isn't training at Arsenal and they were letting him go for free .
Now he's been snuck onto the first team roster that shows us as having 25 players ,though 2 are not even training in Colney ,5 are long term injured leaving 18 ,Ramsey is struggling so is Jack to be fit for tomorrow .
But who does wenger go for a 31 year old kaka (nuff said) and kalou ! seriously I would rather buy no-one now get behind the team .
As the great Mr Lydon once said "ever felt like you'd been cheated ? "
Great ambition eh !

Re: SUMMER TRANSFERS - Deals, Rumours and Buy/Sell Wish List
Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK has this club been doing?!?! That final day of last season was huge for us; kept tots out of the champions league so we could......errrrr.....do absolutely nothing while spuds spend over 100 mil on players who would easily walk into our starting XI?????
I just don't get it. I'm not surprised at all, but seriously what the hell is going on?!

Is Wenger mental? I mean, seriously?
