Seems to me Bale was told he could move a while ago and Spurs are hanging him out to dry pretending the deal isn't done because they're wary that when the deal happens the other English clubs are going to be swarming around Madrid players like flies on shit.

I don't doubt Spurs would have tried to engineer a part-exchange in there but despite their 'new dawn' none of the Madrid squad would have been keen on the switch.

Yep - they've played their hand well. Will get a ridiculous fee for Bale and have gone about signing players the right way. Let's not get carried away - they'll still be scrapping around with us for 4th and they can't actually attract top players there but their plan this window shits all over our 2011 brainwave of burying our heads in the sand and pretending (nay insisting) that Fabregas and Nasri were going nowhere.

You can bag Mourinho and Fergie but at least players wanted to play for them - no one wants to play for Wenger (or Moyes). AVB even has more pull than Wenger and he still has training wheels.

I don't agree Swifty - considering our position (consistently far away from winning trophies) I think we're still an attractive proposition for players. Higuain would have come, Suarez would have come as would have countless other quality players had we agreed fees. Yeah we're still not able to shop at the top table but saying that neither are the likes of Citeh, United or Chelsea and without doubt if we were willing to spend the money we would have been able to put together a squad capable of winning the league this season.

Who have Spurs signed (because of AVB) that wouldn't have come to us?

Every day I get home from work and chuckle when I see that we've made no visible efforts to sign anyone decent.

Whats with Ju-Young Park,a few weeks ago we were going to release him ,he isn't training at Arsenal and they were letting him go for free .

Now he's been snuck onto the first team roster that shows us as having 25 players ,though 2 are not even training in Colney ,5 are long term injured leaving 18 ,Ramsey is struggling so is Jack to be fit for tomorrow .
