RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Always sad to hear stories like that. I was 17 months old when my Dad died , my mam was less than four years married and had two kids. When people asked if I missed my Dad I honestly felt I never had one as I was so young when he died, I have no memories at all of him. But your daughter's friend is at a vulnerable age, as a father of two girls believe me girls growing up need their mum. May she R.I.P.

Two very sad stories, life can be so hard at times.
Very painful losing someone close.

Obviously my Mum died in January and even at 28 that was difficult enough to deal with. Found out that a friend I knew through Arsenal passed away at a fairly young age a while back - had a transplant and it failed unfortunately. His son was about 10, so I can't imagine what his wife and the wee lad must be going through.

My old lady always used to say there's always someone worse off than you, sadly it does ring true.

Sad news. :(

I'm sure he's had bigger achievements in his career, but I used to love 'Through the Keyhole'. Great fun.

Oh, and I suppose his interview with Nixon was rather special too. 8)

Very sad news about Sir David Frost. A pioneer of political satire and tv journalism. Had so much more to give too. Would have loved him to interview Elvis in early '70's. A Gooner too. A huge loss. Along with Seamus Heaney passing, these normally comes in three's. Great men in their fields of expertise and both unexpected. Condolences to their families....

R.I.P Ray Dolby.
For my generation, his tape noise reduction system was very useful, and his company has gone on to be a benchmark of sound quality.

"Dolby" always reminds me of the scene in Spinal Tap where the bimbo girlfriend of the singer gets "involved";

Jeanine: You don't, you don't do heavy metal in dobly, you know, I Mean...it's
Nigel: In what??? In what???
Jeanine: In dobly...
Nigel: In doubly!?! What's that?
David: She means Dolby, alright? She means Dolby. You know perfectly well what she means.
