SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Dont get me wrong Ozil is a great signing but surely a striker a CB and a keeper were more important signings

Bendtner the dickhead is somehow our 2nd striker :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
You're being generous mate - we started with a £70m warchest (less than half the club's reported cash balance) and added £10m to it by selling Forehead and Mannonekokey.........so had nearer £40m left to spend.

When the argument suited the other way round and we were told that reported sums included an allowance for wages does that not work the other way round.....so Chamakh, Denilson, Vela, Mannone, Djourou, Arshavin, Squidgy.....how much was that per week in wages freed up - £350k to £400k per week ?

Apparently it was a 'bitter sweet' day. Paid double for the Monkey compared to what they got for one of the best number 10s in Europe.

Really not sure how to feel.

Delighted of course that we've signed a top top player but it's essentially a massive sticking plaster over the same old wounds is it not? As augie said, it also smacks of a PR stunt, especially with all the bollocks about how IG and Stan worked together to push this deal through. Do me a fucking favour.

This has got people off Wenger's back big time. Rather than being grilled on his lack of squad depth, why he didn't sign a striker/DM etc, yet again he's wormed his way out and negotiated himself some breathing space with the press and fans who were rounding on him. That new contract will be on the table any day now.

Mixed feelings.

I'm delighted with the signing of a Top Top Top Class player like Ozil BUT why did he still leave it till last minute and miss out on a Striker?

But better than nothing :|

Apparently 3 men in black suits tried to broker the Herrera deal and weren't Utd reps at all just imposters......so that's were our 3 stoogies spent the afternoon

From the beeb site

Confirmation from Manchester United that three men who reportedly attempted to negotiate a deal to sign Athletic Bilboa midfielder Ander Herrera were not acting on behalf of the Premier League champions and were, for want of another word, imposters.

"Reports in Spain claim three men dressed in black suits and claiming to be United "representatives" spent an hour at the La Liga offices attempting to negotiate a deal. The move collapsed at the 11th hour."

Article only a couple of months old - fans brainwashed by new signing, net transfer spend of £34m and £25m of it recouped in CL money and balance will be dwarfed by new commercial deals. Still no real net spend
