The Mesut Özil Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Having seen those bunch of Egyptian waiters (hat tip Alan Davies) you had wandering aimlessly around the midfield on Sunday I'd keep quiet about paying silly money if I were you. But then self awareness has never been your lots biggest strength.

Let's also not forget you couldn't convince a single Madrid player to sign for you despite having 80m burning a hole in your pocket

I actually quite like you, you can stay IMO

Course he did, who Fukin wouldn't want to leave the third world area of the city

And didn't one of your super new signings cry when he was told he was being sold to you lot

Mourinho and all the best coaches, players in world football confirm how good he is, never mind stats that make your signings look like a bunch of emile Heskey clones

Would have been wasted in the europa league, will you get that next year with 6th place :rubchin:

We have paid a hell of a lot for Gollum, and he blows hot and cold but he is a supremely gifted footballer and I'm delighted we have got him.

In fact, I haven't been this hyped since we pinched Sol from the Swamp Dwellers. Still think we should have bought Sakho too, proper defender but hey ho, a player of the class of Mesut Ozil (how does one type an umlaut?) doesn't come along too often.

Welcome to the Arsenal son, and you are most welcome. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Yep, Real Madrid never let world-class players leave. Higuain, Sneijder, Robben, Makelele... I also recall them letting Van der Vaart go to some small club :rubchin:

One of the reasons Ozil left is because Ancelotti will play 4-3-3 without a traditional number 10 and after signing Isco, he wasn't a guaranteed starter. He himself said "I realised that I did not have the faith from the coach or the bosses":

Anyway you don't keep Kaka on the bench and play in the Real Madrid playermaker role for three seasons with the likes of Ronaldo, Benzema, Di Maria, Xabi Alonso and Modric ( ), if you're not half-decent.

The buzz that this signing has created is incredible. :barscarf: This is the least Arsenal fans deserve.

Hope that this genuinely is the start of us attracting some of Europe's best players again.

Only problem I see, is where will Cesc play now when he returns?
This could work:

Cesc could play in the Schweinsteiger role. The DM position depends on how Jack and Ramsey develop.

And this just a week after complaining about Man United being reluctant to let Rooney go to a rival and claiming he would never do such a thing!!
