The Mesut Özil Thread

Rumour has it Moyes called as well, but Özil thought it a prank as the manager of an English side could barely even speak English :barscarf:

how long do you think it would take Ozil to get pissed off, if we aren't challenging seriously for trophies?
He has been used to relative success at Real, which even in a trophy less season any discontent was surely outweighed by the fact that he was playing for arguably the biggest club in the world and one which never allows failure to become a year on year habit.
I reckon he'll be getting antsy by November next year if we continue as we have done for the last few years. With the World Cup coming up I guess he wants a lot of game time, which he is guaranteed with us but not so much with Real Madrid. If/when Wenger stays true to type and doesn't strengthen the team any further, we are struggling for the virtual trophy and haven't even challenged for silverware I think he may be wondering 'WTF?' That, or if we finish 5th or lower this season I think he'll be off.
But I really, really, really want him to be a huge success with us! Back in my more naive days I'd hoped we would sign him before he went to RM, I just hope Wenger/Kronke don't fuck this up and he leaves under a cloud in a season or two now that he's finally here...

I love Ozil and at last there is a genuine reason for looking forward to going to games. He is a fantastic player.

How long this new found enthusiasm will last is anyone’s guess though and I must say I am dismayed at the number of people I have seen who are now going easier on Wenger as a result of this signing Don't forget, Wenger is the man who has denied us the excitement of signing players like Ozil for years with his penny pinching ideology.

For me this has come way too late but unfortunately I expect this has bought Wenger and the board some time. I bet they’re all really pleased with themselves and will patting themselves on the back so much over the coming months that they will forget there is still a lot of important work to be done. Can we really trust them to do what is right from this point and take to the next level? I don't trust them one bit. In fact I’m expecting busts of Kroekne and Gazdis to be commissioned before any other major signings arrive.

For me, this summer has still been a shambolic effort from the club. Signing a world class player 40 minutes before the window closes does not change that or hide the fact that Wenger and his people are not fit to be in charge of this club. We are still woefully short in certain areas and millions of pounds was left unspent so it cannot possibly be called a good summers work.

I’m fucking delighted to have a player of Ozil’s calibre at the club but the the cynic in me thinks it was done by people wanting to save their own skin. And who knows … this time next year we might have made a healthy profit on the deal after Ozil stars at the world cup and Bayern Munich offer huge money for him.

Unless we really do change our ways, Ozil will not stay very long. The real test is keeping him and the key to that is signing players that will make him want to stay – exactly what we failed to do with Fabregas and van Persie. Until that happens, talk of the club going in a new direction is premature. At some point this season the flaws in the squad that we all know are still there, will be exposed. Ozil, as superb a player as he is, will not change that.

Mixed feelings really but to end on a positive, Ozil and Cazorla should be fun to watch on the same side.

Not sure what the club's plans are for January but I think (hope) Wenger realises he needs to sign more quality.

He's obviously impressed Ozil with his plans for us. With Fabregas and JVP he naively thought they'd stay out of loyalty to us and probably lied to them a fair bit about where we were heading.
He can't really do that with Ozil. Ozil doesn't owe him anything and whatever he told Ozil about our ambition, he has to stick to it!

I know the grammar is shit but I can't my head around it, I'm knackered! I hope you can figure out what I was trying to say,
