Transfer flop of the season + bargain predictions
Flops:
Jovetic- Man City
Schurrle- Chelsea
Bargain of the season:
I am going with Flamini. I reckon with just 3 cbs he will get games this season.

Don't know if flop is the term I'd use but don't think Willian will live up to his price tag - purely because of the number of similar options they have. Just like Hazard last year.
Also think that Danish striker Cardiff signed will prove to be a waste of money.

Ozil will flop. Waste of money.
Somewhere 1989's head just exploded.
Back in the real world I reckon Flamoney might surprise a few and be a success. Reckon Ozil will be brilliant until out medical staff get hold of him....
Abroad, Bale will flop massively. Like John "The Wad" Holmes pulling the monster out of a porn starlet he has just blown his muck into 26 times in a row. Faaaaalllllllllooooooooooooooopppppppppppppppaaaddoppadop......

yup Bale is odds on to fail out there. look at hughes & Rush.
not an exact Bargain, but i think Giroud will get 20 EPL goals this year.

Lessee - I would definitely go with Bale and Willam is a good shout as well. Don't see what Mata has done to be sitting the bench for Willam.
However, I would say that Fernandinho and Chadli will be cack. Chadli wasn't a big money move, but watching him for 90 minutes on Sunday, he was bloody awful.

Even though a few people wrote Giroud off after his second game with usclockender1 wrote:yup Bale is odds on to fail out there. look at hughes & Rush.

agreed. 20 is reasonable given he will rotate with Pod (eventually) and Walcotts whining will get him a few there. for me the pudding will be if he can score against united, City, chavs and Liverpool.DB10GOONER wrote:Even though a few people wrote Giroud off after his second game with usclockender1 wrote:yup Bale is odds on to fail out there. look at hughes & Rush.

I (and most sane people) decided we'd give him a couple seasons before judging him. I felt he would do very well if he hit 12 - 15 PL goals in his first season and I think he did well enough getting near that tbh. But now I think he needs to hit the magic 20 PL goals mark this year or he is not good enough. We shouldn't be carrying fuckers for 4 and 5 seasons anymore at this level. I personally feel he will hit that mark. That's not to say we shouldn't be looking to sign a better striker, we should be.
personally i think Olly is a confidence striker who needs to keep his rhythm. RVP was like that, though Giroud is more of a smith, lineker, papin, cole, shearer, klinsmann etc
our title years were marked by one striker getting 20+ or two 30+ between them, and one midfielder getting 15 and another getting 12 or so.
for me, wally has to get 15+ this year or we should sell him for a striker.
a title winning side scores 50+ from Offense (to borrow a yank term) thesedays. we have been nearer 35.
Re: Transfer flop of the season + bargain predictions
I think hooper at Norwich will prove to be a bargain - to me he looks like a guy that hasn't much pace but he is a natural penalty area striker and in the smaller pitches like carrow road I think he will shine
As a guy that has begged AFC to sign a big DM in the past 4 seasons, I will be interested to see how wanyama and paulinho get on cos both like good players to me. Neither player could be classed as cheap so the bargain tag might not apply although a good powerful DM would be priceless to us imo.
Steklenburg will be a good buy for Fulham I think - replacing schwarzer was never going to be easy but getting an experienced international, especially for fcuk all money, will be a good bit of business for fulham imo
Flops will be harder to guess -
Capoue will be one imo - ideally your centre midfield has one ball player and one tough ball winning player so playing this guy alongside paulinho wont be a success imo and capoue is the weaker of the two so will be hung out to dry
With the exception of sakho I reckon all the victims signings will be classed as failures - mignolet in particular is over-rated imo and will be exposed this season

Re: Transfer flop of the season + bargain predictions
I agree that Jovetic will be one of the flops - but it will hardly be his fault because City won't play him !
Fellaini will be exposed for the average one paced plodder he is now that he's joined a truly big club and with the pressure of a £27m price tag on his head - fuck me, thank god we dodged that bullet....and before I hear "he's exactly what we need".....NO HE FUCKING ISN'T !
Darren Bent on loan could be a masterstroke for Fulham and if they play him regularly will notch at least 15 PL goals

The thought of Mesut flopping hasn't even crossed my mind.

Agreed. I'd have Mignolet ahead of Chesney in a heartbeat.goonersid wrote:I've said the opposite to some of my pool "mates"augie wrote:I think hooper at Norwich will prove to be a bargain - to me he looks like a guy that hasn't much pace but he is a natural penalty area striker and in the smaller pitches like carrow road I think he will shine
