As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
certainly not saying its a bad thing, a Geordie slapper for the price of a Bacardi is probably a mint way to round off a day after getting 3 points! Go to their city, drink their beer, beat their team, fuck their women and go home, sounds ideal! If you're going out in Newcastle after the Sunderland game on Saturday you can get some early practice in
So good to hear a fellow 'murican is going to support the gunners! my brother and i did the same trip last year, however, we ended up seeing QPR on boxing day, instead of the scheduled arsenal/west ham match, due to the tube drivers strike. Apparently it happens every year so keep an eye on that. Depending on when you fly in, Cab fare from heathrow will be about £70 if you fly in on christmas day, since none of the trains run. weather was quite nice for christmas, mid 30's at night and mid to upper 40's during most days, rainy (obviously). we must have hit nearly every pub on game day, check out phibbers on holloway rd, and you MUST do piebury corner. arsenal tavern and the gunners pubs were both good too!

Cheers! I went over a few years ago, but it was in November. London around Christmas should be interesting. There will be some days I'll have access to a car so that will be nice. I really hope the tube doesn't shut down the whole time I'm there!

Don't remember if I told you before, but I actually went to the Stadium of Light last time I was over. Sunderland played Everton on a Monday night and I had nothing to do so my mate and I went up for it! It finished 2-2. I think Arteta scored for Everton in the last five minutes. The banter between the fans was hilarious!

It would only be 26th (Boxing Day). The drivers want silly money to work that day.
Seriously, is there no course for the mods that teaches the fcukers how to post on this place ? Between chippys repeat posting (4 times I might add ) and the midget dublin mod's inability to spell properly, it makes this place look like a haven for the retarded

Hang verily the fuck on right there, ya bald bastard!!
How an illiterate, culchie, uncle-marrying, goat molester can question my spelling is beyond me!!
Chippy is a junior mod. It will take him time to learn. In other news we had to demote Hlebby (again) for constantly being off his (considerable) tits. Bad Hlebby! Bad!

Yeah I remember that, glad you enjoyed the trip up! No doubt you'll have a cracking time when you come over for these games as well, looks like you might be set for a good season so you should see some good football as well
Found a good deal at Cartwright Gardens. Anyone know how to get there from Heathrow on Christmas day? I know everything is shut down. Taxi?
Also, I've never been to an Arsenal away day. Assuming I can get tickets, how do you guys travel when away on boxing day and then going to a place like newcastle?
Ugggh taxi on christmas day will probably cost you as much as one nights accommodation. I should imagine a black taxi would be not far off £100, then any private licensed company will charge double normal rates.

It will be a cultural experience for you to remember for many years
Haha we actually are staying up there that night. My mate is dragging me to Nottingham the next day. Obviously I've picked the the hottest spots in the world to visit
You could always fly to newcastle from heathrow, BA do daily flights and if you have avios/airmiles it can reduce the cost of travelling.
As for Nottingham, I am not sure if your into poker but the best cardroom in the country is there, its called DTD.
I don't suppose I have any other options for transport on Christmas day? Do I need to book a taxi ahead of time or will there be taxi service at heathrow already?

Interesting choice of location. Newcastle is well worth doing imo, it's a great laugh and cheap as fuck so if you're up for getting hammered and a bit of a laugh then give it a go. Nottingham has a few places to visit and it's a decent night but certainly wouldn't jump out at me as one of the must visit places.

Using the cabs at LHR is horribly expensive. Always better to book a meet and greet. Somebody up the thread made some suggestions. There will be quite a few non-christian drivers quite happy to be out and about on Xmas and a lot cheaper than a black cab.
