Rodders - you are turning into a Self Harmer yourself mate.....don't do it to yourself. This is the man actually quoted as saying "every year we compete for FIVE trophies" and listed one of them as "qualification for the CL".....something we are destined to do again this year

ONE ARSENE WENGER.....THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

the rest of this season will hurt people like you the most. prepare for a hurricane of shite :(
Well, I really hope so! But then again, I have gotten my hopes up and finally crashing down too many times to be really hoping too much now. As much I liked to believe that things might finally turn for better now but I don't believe that anymore so long as wenker is still around. Özil signing was absolutely fantastic but in the end, one man can't make the difference. If that happens though, it would be very positive surprise.

So bale didn't make the difference at the spuds, Wrighty then Bergkamp and then Henry to us, pele to brazil, maradonna to argentina, zidane to france, Charlton to Oireland (as it's topical) , ronaldo to madrid, messi to barcelona.....

Suppose your right, one man can't make a difference to a team but here's hoping :barscarf:

Yes every manager has given out some dodgy contracts but I would argue that nobody has given out as many as wenker especially when you consider just how excessive those contracts were  How many contract extensions has he awarded diaby despite the fact that the guy is continually injured ? How confident are you that wenker wont give him another new contract later in this season if he plays 6-10 consecutive games ? I am only picking diaby as an example and am only referring to his injuries rather than focus on his shitiness (dont have enough time to detail that  ) cos otherwise I would include rosicky, bendtner, denilson, below average al etc etc etc  This validation of wenker's is for me the very same as suggesting that he has done well with the players he has available - who bought these players ? Who chose on numerous occasions not to use his full budget trying to bring in better players ?
Exactly!!! They've all bought dross and made mistakes, even fergie, look at Veron, Taibi and Djemba to name but a few. The difference with fergie was he was willing to accept that he'd made a mistake and these players didn't hang around too long on the utd wage bill.
Where as stubborn Wenger could never admit he'd made a mistake and the shite mentioned above hung around and in some cases are still fucking well hanging around the club.
In total agreement with the two bald bastards :-P I've quoted, Lefty. Also, you say; "But he has kept us in the top 4 with these players (or without some of them) so somewhere along the line he has done well, you can't have it both ways, in that they are shit players and he is a shit manager, either we have all underrated the players or the manager has worked wonders with average players" - I would argue that if he had spent that money correctly on better players (and gotten rid of the chaff as soon as it was apparent they were chaff, like Rednose did) then he could have done better than just scrape 4th place every year for the best part of a decade, and for the same outlay.

The main points for me are that Arsene (more than ANY manager) overpaid/still overpays poor and average players and retains them far too long, and he does this because he cannot admit he got it wrong. That is very poor financial management as well as football management.
Who asked you for your opinion.....Stick to doing your phone adverts Yoda

If you were to put a gun to my head today and ask me if he will still be manager post June '14 I would say no. That's a seismic shift in my thinking over the past 12 months. I'm in a good head space my friend and there's no way I'm going to let you drag me down.

Are you playing devils advocate again lefty ? Wrighty and Bergkamp joined title winning teams, pele played alongside some fantastic Brazilian players who were just in the shadow of a genius, zidane played some great players with france (desially, jerkoff, thuram etc), big jack inherited an Irish team that inc McGrath, brady, etc, Ronaldo played alongside Roberto carlos, figo and zidane plus finally I will grant you the messi argument........having to carry deadweights like xavi and iniesta must be a hardship for any player

It's Friday mate and I want some fun :barscarf:

But in fairness those players I listed did make THE difference, without them their respective sides would have been weaker and not won as much (except the spuds and Oireland) 8)

In fairness, we most certainly weren't a title-winning team when Bergkamp joined us.
