2-2 away to a newly promoted side. Thats not good enough for real Madrid .

The media will be on their backs tomorrow, you watch. Someone will ask why isn't he fit etc was he worth 90m

If he's advised well he'll focus on the disappointment of the dropped points not how pleased he was with his goal...

Think Bale is a cool customer, will be fine.
Will fly over his friends and family, will learn the language.
As Red Gunner said, he will do fairly well, but not be as important to his new club as he was to his old.

Obviously dropping points (and slipping back on Barca) is never tolerated in Madrid. Nothing new there. Most top clubs have to deal with mass hysteria when points are dropped though.There's always a crisis somewhere.

To be fair though, Villarreal were superb. Not your typical promoted club performance. They'd played 3 won 3 before that and will be nowhere near relegation this season. They're a good side.

It's the quieter thoughtful players that seem to succeed - gobshite Robbie keane was a total failure whilst Tony Cascarino was a massive success in France. Waddle too I think.

They played in England and Cascarino was born in Kent.

Anyway. He got slated in two of the three daily papers - el pais said he appeared confused, made two crosses into nowhere and fouled pereira before the goal, and didn't seem connected to the game.

All three agreed he can't play on the right.

Of course the uk papers and pros declared it a great success. Duh...

Think he'll do pretty well there but not live up to these artificial expectations. He has some highly dangerous traits and in a squad with that much quality for whom 90% of their matches are like training games he's always going to pilfer a fair share of goals (especially with his place effectively guaranteed), but equally now he's stacked up next to Ronaldo he's always going to fall short of him.

I have to totally disagree that Lampard is as thick as shit. Any time I hear him, he comes across as thoughtful, well informed & somebody well educated on all matters football. You rarely see him in the papers for anything non football & my opinion is that he would do well abroad & is an excellent professional.

Ferdinand & Rooney on the other hand; He'd only learn the Spanish for Braaap, murked & innit. Rooney would pay for everyone to speak English & survive on chicken nuggets & pot noodles.

100% agreed. Didn't they even write some years back that Lampard has an IQ of ca 150 which is genius level?

I really haven't got anything against the guy, I know he played for them, but he really didn't have a choice, when he got a chance he jumped ship.

better than watching him play for utd or something similarly disgusting.

On one hand I don't want him to tear shit up but on the other I don't want Spurs fans to be exceptionally smug if he flops (in relative terms) and there will be a fair amount of satisfaction while they continue banging their head on the glass ceiling watching him scoring goals.
