Comical, embarrassing and disgraceful all in one go  The best of our current centre backs isn't as good as the worst of the aforementioned trio

Kos, who I had such high hopes for is now a penalty waiting to happen every time he's defending in the penalty box. Russian roulette stuff the way he lunges in at times.

There was nothing more comforting than seeing an Arsenal team sheet that read -

DIXON - BOULD - ADAMS - WINTERBURN

I used to listen to matches on the radio as a kid and write down our team in a copy book and the sight of those 4 names filled me with belief. So reassuring. Happy, happy days.

To be fair, the backlines of old had proper defensive midfielders sitting in front of them unlike the current defence

Lost count of the number of 2 goal (and more) leads we've thrown away in the last 5 or 6 years.

I seem to recall some comments on here after "Wenger's greatest achievement" at the St James's wankfest likening Koscielny to Tony Adams, so why the surprise when Lord Turnip offers up a similar comparison ?

To be fair I think we're being slightly harsh on our current defenders. Yes there have been some embarrassing moments. But there were seasons when even with Adams and Bould in the back four we had a pretty large goals conceded number. It all comes down to coaching in the end. If the current defensive players received dedicated defensive coaching then we'd see much better performances at the back.

Yes we finished 4th by the scrape of our teeth, but we still had the 3rd best defensive record in the league, so lets take that as a positive and hope it's built upon.

Hats off to Wenger he's stolen Sami Ajaji from under the noses of Neasden Ahletico !
Ashen faced Ron Knee (59) said " He was outside signing autographs for the fans (sid and doris bonkers) having passed the medical when a man with a big nose dressed only in a long puffer jacket jumped out of a Black Van revealed his credentials screamed come here my little Weiner Schintzil and whoosh he was gone along with the Mont Blanc pen he was supposed to ink the contract with "

He's comparing them in terms of options rather than quality.

How does that make sense ? :? Are you suggesting that he is talking about the number of options rather than the quality of the options ? If so what you are suggesting is that if we had larry, mo and curly as our centre back options wenker would also be justified in comparing this current situation to the TA6 days and even wenker isnt that big of a bullshiter  Granted on here people often take a negative slant on comments but by the same token, people on here are trying to take a positive from that statement and pretend that his statement has nothing to do with the quality of the current options even though he has frequently spoken of his belief in their quality
