Him being found not guilty doesn't make her a liar.
Whilst he must have been going through hell and I feel for the bloke IF he is genuinely innocent, the reporting and conviction rates for rape are amongst the biggest travesties in our society today. You take away anonymity for (alleged) rape victims and you'll all but ruin rape as a prosecutable crime.
Something that does need to be reviewed is how the police handle investigations with so much public interest. No reason why a suspect should be named until they are charged, it's a disgrace that papers are getting hold of details of people who are arrested. Also happened with that Joanna Yates murder in Bristol a few years ago where all the papers ran complete character assassinations of her landlord after the police arrested him, made him out to be a complete weirdo and despite paying substantial compensation ruined his life - and it turned out he had done absolutely nowt wrong.

Re: Kevin Webster gets off
Le Veil is now suing the CPS for the £200,000 his defence cost him. I hope he wins. From all I read this was a very sketchy prosecution from the beginning and to have to spend that amount of money while having his private life exposed for all to see is disgraceful. Naming the accuser would achieve nothing but keeping the identity of the accused secret until conviction, whilst difficult, is only fair in my opinion.

Thing is, her anonymity would of be upheld despite the verdict of Mr. Le Veil.
If he were found guilty - Protect her from the media circus (until she brings out a book in about 6 years from his sentencing.)
If he were found Innocent - Protect her from being publicly addressed as a liar.
Now, because Mr. Le Veil hasn't been found guilty doesn't mean that he is innocent by any means so calling the woman a liar is a tad harsh because we will never really know (now at least) if he did or didn't do it.
The problem is now, it is the woman's word against the man and the man is often portrayed as the guilty party prior to being tried and that is wrong. It has been discussed before in one of my Law lectures about sexual equality - why men can be raped by women etc. LBD is right, the accused - be it a man or woman should be anonymous in cases like this until proven guilty because it has a disastrous domino effect. If the accused is found innocent then there will always be a lingering doubt ( unless it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the accused is in fact innocent) over their head, their career, no matter what, is now in tatters because of the whole process, the psychological effects the accused will have such as stress, anxiety, depression during and after. It is a horrific drain.
The media especially are quick to lead a Witch Hunt and despite an innocent verdict they don't seem to understand they ruin peoples lives and that's not right!
