Re: Flamini
He's a great player to have in the squad and as he didn't cost us anything, a bargain too.
Re: Flamini
How comes the Dad's Army of Italy let him go?
Nice to see him already declaring how he'll finish up his career playing for the love of his life....Marseille. Thought he'd been released by the love of his life already
Sneaky bastard has got a long way to go before he wins me back over and declaring his undying love for the side we're about to play in midweek isn't the best way to go about it
Still, I'll always love him for the being the third best CDM we had the season he left us

Arsene Wenger has revealed he was reluctant to re-sign Mathieu Flamini after the way he left the club back in 2008.
The Frenchman quit to join AC Milan, despite being offered a new deal by the Gunners, and Wenger admits this weighed on his mind when it came to bringing back the 29-year-old.
‘First of all I believe that he realised what he had here,’ Wenger told the Arsenal official website.
‘When you’re very young, it is difficult to understand what he had at Arsenal.
‘I must say I was reluctant to sign him again, but he was so honest in his statement that he wants to play the kind of football we play, that he wants to help us to win. He convinced me through his attitude and his desire in training that he will be the right signing for us.

‘It was his attitude. He could have gone somewhere else. He had offers but he wanted to put it right with this club and I think he felt somewhere that he had something to bring to the piece here. He was determined to do that.’
The midfielder has impressed in the two games he’s played since his return, and Wenger is convinced he can prove to be a vital cog in Arsenal’s quest to end their trophy drought.
‘Flamini is absolutely crucial to the balance of the team,’ he added.
‘He had not played since May and when you see how well he came in, it shows you how focused and how dedicated he was in his preparation.
‘He’s got what is needed in every team. I wouldn’t say we lacked that as much as people say, but he is of course important for the balance of the team that we have players with his qualitie

Re: Flamini
Thought he was poor at Sunderland, esp in second half. Will always be a
in my book for the way he left. Showed he had no affinity with the club and have no doubt he would do the same again.

We got him on a free, he left on a free, we were gonna sell him to the brumms, it's football, I don't understand why you guys expect some sort of loyalty from the players, it's a job to them and rightly so, let's be honest, the fans are as fickle as fuck so why shouldn't they be

Absolutely - all this "flamster" love in is doing my fcuking head in cos he is the same type of greedy mercenary b**tard as the judas mobile phone loving chavski c*** who is "best friends" with jenas

Re: Flamini
And I wouldn't mind either if what he was doing out there was amazing.....it isn't. I just hope that when the far superior in every way Arteta returns that he'll be back as a back-up, which for all bar one of his previous seasons he was anyway......and he's older and slower now.augie wrote:SteveO 35 wrote:How comes the Dad's Army of Italy let him go?

Missing my mate Mik almost as much as the great Abou
Re: Flamini
Yeah I like arteta as well but sadly I can see wenker easing him out now. I could reluctantly accept that if he was being replaced by a gustavo quality and type of player but to be replaced by flamoney would be an awful kick in the nuts to arteta as far as I am concerned - one player left for money reasons and the other took a pay cut to join us so it isnt hard to figure out who has the most integrity and appreciation for our club

Re: Flamini
Arteta is the better DM imho. Doesn't give away as many stupid free kicks and doesn't need to be lunging in with Hollywood tackles because he anticipates the play so well. Song was shite because he only ever reacted (often too slowly) and never read or anticipated the play. Flamoney isn't as shit as Song but he can get brain farts that make him lunge. Arteta is calm and economical with his positioning and distribution and tackles only as a last resort - like all the best DM's and CH's. Positioning and anticipation are everything.
Flamoney for me is somewhere in the middle of Song at one end and Arteta at the other. Bit like OneBard Ewok in between Stabby Pete and Big Bubba in the prison showers.

Re: Flamini
I like Arteta, but i disagree that he's a better DM than Flamini. The team seems more organized with Flamini. Flamini is also more willing to throw in a tough tackle which you need someone like that on your team. To me, Arteta is more in the Ramsey role alongside Flamini but Ramsey is obviously playing too well to leave out.

Re: Flamini
Let's be honest about this - we go up against some clubs who come at our players in a very physical game, kicking the shit out of Jack, pushing Theo around and getting away with it because the ref is more focused on glod knows what. We haven't had many players who come at the opposing players in a spiky, snarling way which tells them 'i may get a bookin, mate, but i'm gonna leave a scar on you to remember me by' Opens up a bit more space for our lads to work in.
Hated to seem him go, but it was about the same way he originally came to us in the first, he's got that sort of head on his shoulders for loyalty and money. Let's just get some good use out of him while he's back with us. If it brings silver, all is forgiven.
