So we've won ten consecutive away games, won 6 games on the bounce and now someone's calling Mertesacker a coward WTF????? What next... I really do wonder if some people on here actually support Arsenal...moving on 3 points in the bag and the toughest team in the group up next...

Way too much of a generalisation, augie. I am not talking about last ditch lunging tackles, few CH's would get facial injuries that way. I'm talking about going in for headers in the oppo box and clearing same in our box. It's about putting his head in where it hurts. Totally different to last ditch tackles which are indicitave of poor positioning.

Also, you've obviously never met McGrath up close. I've met him twice (once at a pub promotion thing and once in Dublin airport) and he has the scars in and around his eyebrows.

Did he have the scars before or after u mugged him.

Is there anybody you haven't met DB

I love the "met McGrath up close" part......the poor little fcuker was only up to McGraths knee's and trying to look up at his face caused one of the many muscle injuries our midget mod has accumulated in his lifetime

Horse before cart there. "We could win the CL"? Could we? We are now suddenly that good, huh? I find fualt where there is fault. When this team of players wins the CL then come back on here and shoot the mouth off about finding fault.

when I said we could win the CL I meant it as in we could sign messi and Ronaldo and some people wouldn't be happy, not as in we will win the CL.The negativity on here sometimes is joke,Merts is a coward,Pod is lazy,Rambo is never gonna be anything than a squad player,Wally is a waste of space, just some of the observations of site supporters this past year, jeez do we have any decent players, how long before Ozil is found out just to be a lazy bug eyed turk

Absolutely. Without any shadow of a doubt. Fucking yellow streak a mile wide right down his jelly spine. NEVER goes in where it hurts, gets outjumped and outmuscled by OneBard Ewok type midgets, and worst of all turns his back on shots rather than launching into them to block them. Kos might be disaster prone and a bit of a lunger but he is mostly fearless.
Well yesterday he did "go in where it hurts" and got a boot to the face for it.

And if scars is your thing then this is him after breaking his eye socket:

Returned in a mask:

And this mask he wore after breaking his nose earlier in his career:

As for turning his back on shots, I guess he should have in this video because the poor bloke took one straight in the noggin:

Some people have formed an opinion of Mertesacker, it won't change no matter what they see. He's been our best defender by a country mile since about 6 months after he joined the club. He could sit in our box clearing 100 crosses in a row by being in the right place but he might get his timing wrong and be outjumped on the 101th time and so obviously he's shit in the air. The timing of his tackling is absolutely superb and must be up there with the best in the world, every time he pulls one off (I remember one in the marseille game when I was sure the bloke had got beyond him) the only recognition he gets from commentators is "Oh, he's used his long legs there".

By far one of the most underrated defenders in the league. In fact, I'm not sure there's another CB in the premier league that I'd swap him for

Ah right! So one time in dozens of games he got shoved and bent over and a high foot came up near his head and that makes him brave!! :barscarf: Let's forget all the times he conciously made the decision not to go in where it hurts and all the times he let people outjump him and all the times he's turned his back on and ducked away from shots!! Yay!!

And who said he wasn't our best CH? No one that I can recall... And what a stupid sweeping statement that he's being judged because of 1 time out of 101 times he got it wrong... Fucks sake, who said that? The point is he doesn't clear 100 crosses in a row does he? Again, like the bald culchie, you are confusing tackling with being brave. I'm not talking about his skill as a CH, I'm talking about his ducking away from shots and not launching full in at set pieces.
