FFS - Wenger has overseen 5 league wins in a row and has obtained a total of 15 points from six games where last season we got 18.
We've beaten West Brom on penalties, and the worst team I've witnessed in the CL in many a long year in Fenerbahce
Last night's win was fantastic and against a decent team and the win in Marseille showed great character against a half decent side
That's it - nothing more nothing less. We haven't played any of the major clubs in this country yet and the back to back Dortmund games will provide a real test of how far we've come.
Wenger often says "judge me in May" when we've had a fucking awful start and are out of the title race by Autumn, but now we've got people willing to judge him in early October when we've had a decent start without playing anyone of real note (Napoli apart perhaps)
Fuck me - at least wait till Xmas when the CL Group stage is over and we've played everyone domestically before even beginning to suggest that Lord Wenger has suddenly turned over a new leaf.
The squad is still fragile in too many places and I'm prepared to stick my neck out even now and say we'll end up 4th and without a trophy
Steveo, sounds like Wengers got you a bit worried about buying the beer and food for the bbq do'nt worry well all chip in
Did Napoli beat dortmund?
On the contrary - the BBQ happens when Wenger signs up his new deal so the only worry now is the counselling bill for young Rodders and whether there's enough room in the freezer for all the burgers
Anyway, you've always stuck by There's Only One......I think the "quick about turn brigade" know who they are and they'll be back on this thread in December moaning about Wenger anyway
I'm just enjoying being top of the league and playing well at the moment, I never expected that after the Villa game.
I hope Wenger makes people eat there words, would hate to see him leave Arsenal discredited after what hes done for the club.

I'm really enjoying our form at the moment, but we are still only 1-2 injuries away from disaster and if this happens it will be so much harder to take due to how well we are playing now.
We need more quality and numbers in the squad, and the reason we don't is down to one man. It's a long way to January, and tbh I'm not sure if any world class strikers/CB's will even be available then. If injuries scupper our season then it's a crying fucking shame as it was so easily avoidable by strengthening the squad before the season started.

Right, I assume you mean like Bayern do? If so there's a minor problem - they are a far better team than us and are fairly adept at it.
Or do you mean 4 - 6 -0 as Scotland tried?
I don't believe they are that much better than us. I believe we could manage a 4 6 with variations in the event we lost Giroud to injury. I also feel that not only podolski but various otehrs 'could' play up front with our current centre of the park collective. even a 50+ year old me could grab a goal with that midfield (given a dozen or so games). The 'false' 9 is certainyl something we are capable of implementing

I can concede the tactical point but I'm afraid I would back Bayern to stove us 90 times out of 100 if we met in the knockout rounds.
Check their squad, bar the midfield, they are much stronger.

Do you think Wenger would try it though? Would be interesting to watch but I can't see him doing it.

They are miles miles better than us - and 90% of the other teams in the competition.
And we're a side who has played 4-5-1 for years and nothing else - given our notorious tactical rigidity I would be a bit more reluctant before I championed us playing a 4-6-0 system when playing without a real designated striker has managed to make infinitely superior Barcelona and Spain teams look toothless.

Not sure whether he would try it but without a doubt it is an option he would have considered. Would certainly love to see us try it.
Back to the folk and the 'bayern better than us question' That's a matter of opinion of course and while I concede that they are probably better than us I certainly don't think they are 'miles' better than us albeit not knowing what 'miles' is in measurable terms on the football skill/ability chart. Without a doubt they are THE team in Europe and I wouldn't argue against that, but to say we would be incapable of playing such a system just 'because they can and they are better than us' does not, I feel, hold too much water

W. T. F. kind of wierd shit is this? Ive read this like 4 times and still dont know wtf you're on about?
lol Had a couple here btw. to clarify, was really meaning play 6 of our midfielders if we lose Giroud. hence the 4-6
of the 6 we should include someone holding leaving 5 other free to do as they need. so really a 4-1-5, but with the false 9 the five would/could, at any given time, either remain a 5 or become a 4-1 as necessary with any of the 5 being able to 'fill that hole' as the mood and situation dictate. However, if there are 2 or more on the field capable of holding in front of the two centre halves then that 1 (in the 4-1-5 scenario within the 4-6) need not be so rigid making it a 2 with permission to move, but not simultaneously. this makes the formation a 4-6 with the 6 being a 1+5 where the 1 could be 1 of the 2 (or possibly more) capabable of that holding role. this would have to be worked with the 4+1 as mentioned in the first post ensuring that the 1 there was probable not one of the 2 (or more) able to play the 1 in the 1+5 bit.
