West Brom Away

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Mertesacker imo is the best centre back in the premier league at the moment, no player that we could conceivably bring in from the cold is going to be at his level. If he is out then it's Vermaelen and Koscielny which hasn't been a roaring success in the past

I was happy when we signed him but he was poor for quite a while. I think he's limited and as brave as a French soldier but he reads the game beautifully and his distribution is excellent.

Don't know if he's the best in the league as he needs to be paired with someone who's the polar opposite, ie: someone with recovery pace and energy who'll get stuck in but I would have him in my team without fail.

We could have used a cover centre back but at least we've got the club captain to come in. The point is regardless of whatever 4th choice CB we could have signed in the summer losing Mertesacker in the form he is in is a massive blow

No it will not be easy at all. Just seen WBA's line up. They are starting with Anelka,Berahino,Sessegnon and Amalfitano. That is a seriously attacking line up for them.

The up is if we ccan keep that line up quiet, the bench isn't that great for them but keeping that lot quiet will be nigh on impossible in the form Berahino,Sessgnon and Amalfitano are in and you know anelka always wants to get one against us.

Any optimism I had that we might get a draw just went right out the window. We'll do well to get a draw. :(

2-2 hopefully
