Moyes is not up to the job. He, to a lesser extent is like Fat Sam AllThePies, Curbishly, Pardew and O'Neill in that he is a small club manager. He did well enough at Everton but he wasn't dealing with superstar egos and huge expectations there. Managers like that perform well within limited expectations. Moyes is not a bad manager, he is just not a top manager like Fergie, GG, and Wenger (pre 2007) are/were.
Would also agree that Fergie left him the weakest Manure squad of the last 20 years.
And of course the above comments about United not being finished or whatever are absolutely correct - despite their appalling form and gaping flaws they won't be that far off the eventual winners and I would happily wager that they'll finish above us and that they'll turn us over up there at least. With a player like van Judas (and Rooney if he has one of his 6-month patches of form) they're capable of punching well above the weight of their collective squad.
Before a ball had been kicked this season, he was accusing the powers that be of rigging the fixture list and giving manyoo a lot of tough fixtures early on. He reckoned that it was a ploy/stitch up designed to prevent his club from walking away with the title again.
It's a load of bollocks. Probably. BUT if Fergie had said the same thing there would be lots of poopers going in the corridors of power.
The Fergie Fear Factor has gone. We now have a level playing field. At last.
i've heard that Mourinho actually broke down in tears, when he didn't get offered the Man Utd job, and they gave it to Moyes. At the time returning to Chelsea was never an option.
Maybe United now wish they had gone for Mourinho instead,
World class manager, with a big ego and a profile to attract world class players, that Moyes won't be able too

I've also heard that. From some particularly straw-clutching plastic Yoonited fans mind.
I think the choice between reliability and professionalism vs glamour and reputation was probably quite an easy one. It clearly wasn't broke under Ferguson and despite his drawback Moyes seemed the obvious successor - and I guess that even had Mourinho gone in and done well he would have pissed off 3 years down the line after some public feud or another and they'd be back to square one in terms of looking for a new manager, whereas Moyes potentially could pick straight up and do the job for two decades.
Agree with NB123. Moron-hio may get the big jobs at clubs with egomaniacal pimps that are hands-on owners or corrupt politico connections (Chavs/Madrid etc) because most of them are into immediate success and gratification and are fucked in the head when it comes to the concept of long term sustainability. But in fairness to the Filth's board they looked at Moron and knew he'd last a couple seasons before he had a hissy fit or was tempted by some billionaire pimp and did one. They obviously hoped Moyes would grow into the job and continue the sustained success. But he won't.
Think it was the Crystal Palace game at Old Trafford that Fergie sat in the directors box for the first time as a director rather than a manager. It must be impossible for for Moyes to do the job (even if he was up to it) with this looming presence behind him. Maybe Mourinho even for two years would have been a more sensible choice as only he , or his like, would be strong enough to banish the ghosts.
Moyes tries so hard to look like the Man yoo manager by trying to look stern on the touchline...but it isn't working. Big fish in a small(ish) pool springs to mind. Long may his failures continue.
Man Yoo will miss that 10 plus points a season that the Fergie factor earned them.
