This is why England FC will NEVER win anything again.

Basically the Sam Alladyce of the 90's has been given by the FA, do they want us to win anything?, the job to teach NEW coaches.
This is the future of England: Hooooooooooof!

Without more evidence, it's impossible to know whether it's a good appointment or not. After all, as the FA said:
"John's philosophy around playing over 20 years ago bears no reflection on the competence of him as a coach educator at Level 2 and Uefa B."
Fair point. People change, even if does - on the face of it - look questionable.

As g88ner said his old playing style isn't necessarily reflective but then again it doesn't exactly look good does it?
I just can't believe given the strides that Wales made under Speed (a player who showed pioneering dedication to sports science in a record-breaking career), Verheijen (a fitness and conditioning expert with somewhat revolutionary methods) and Osian Roberts (a coach who never actually played professionally) that people like Chris Coleman and this dinosaur are given key jobs.
I read a biography on Speed and the army of sports scientists and 'performance experts' he employed - have to say it was actually very interesting and their relentless focus on getting players peaking for matchdays (using daily blood and saliva tests as one indicator of fitness) really showed on the pitch.

Yes g88ner, you're right there, they certainly do....and sometimes the change might only take 6 weeks too rather than 20 yearsg88ner wrote:Without more evidence, it's impossible to know whether it's a good appointment or not. After all, as the FA said:

I've read the contract doccuments that FIFA send to bidding FAs, they are then legally bound to secrecy as to it's contents wether they win or lose their respective bids.Arsenal Till I Die wrote:I loath international football with a passion, couldn't give a shit.
It's full of the usual contract law and legalese but it basically allows FIFA (a registered charity) to set up a tax haven in the winning bidders country and hoover up vast quantities of coin and then move on to the next circus.
The Qatar bid was inherently corrupt (read pretty much any paper over the last week or so) so I really cannot understand why the big nations acquiesce to this farce any longer.
If there was a will to then the UEFA nations could say "it's my ball and I'm taking it home" and tell FIFA to bollocks as it's the European leagues that supply the majority of 'marquee' players that make the World Cup popular.
If FIFA really cared about growing the game

International football is bullshit. Apologies if this post needs editing.

On topic: that John Beck still works in football doesn't surprise me as this is the enlightened land where we teach our kids to "fucking get rid of it".

Apparently only one of the Exec Committee actually asked about the weather before the vote, the rest just didn't care because they couldn't see past the $ signs in their eyes. Has anybody actually checked that Qatar have 10 football pitches???
English completely botched the campaign but frankly there's no way they would have won the 2018 WC without stuffing the pockets of the voters. And even then they'd have had to contend with Platini's endless crusade to run down English football.

Platini has hated English football ever since this happened.......northbank123 wrote:Apparently only one of the Exec Committee actually asked about the weather before the vote, the rest just didn't care because they couldn't see past the $ signs in their eyes. I love international football. Don't get me wrong, if I had to choose between a World Cup win for England or a Premier League title for Sunderland I'd go for the club team (not that its something I'm likely to have to worry about any time soon like) but I'd say my support for England is nearly as strong as it is for my club team (I'd rather see England win a world cup than see SAFC win a league cup for example).Arsenal Till I Die wrote:I loath international football with a passion, couldn't give a shit.
Nowadays, other that players getting phantom injuries, I almost prefer international football overall. Club teams seem to get success just by spending fortunes and having rich owners, and financial "fair play" will make it even harder for other teams to catch up, it just maintains the status quo. At least with international football the only way to be successful is to invest sensibly in youth development and coaching. It helps if you're a large country of course, but with the right commitment to youth development even a small country can hope to compete. Its refreshing that England can't just say "we're shit, lets throw £1000m to get Ronaldo" or similar.
That's partly why I like what Wilshere has said about Januzaj, I don't want anyone who has moved here purely for football representing England because its a slippery slope whereby an FA could, in theory, bribe a talented player to choose England rather than AN Other and its not something I want to see happen. Should be the best English players (through birth, parentage or grandparents, and maybe through residency if they moved when pre-school age) and the best English manager. If we're shit, we're shit.

Still more likely than Ingerland winning the World Cup.safcftm wrote:I love international football. Wilshere: "We're English, we're brave and we tackle hard".

What chance have we got when our most technically gifted player comes out with that sort of rubbish.
