This is why England FC will NEVER win anything again.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What chance have we got when our most technically gifted player comes out with that sort of rubbish.
I just think its funny since my image of a stereotypical English midfielder is one who gets stuck in and brushes off any challenges made on him whereas Wilshere, who seemingly considers himself the epitome of the English midfield player, rolls around like a tart whenever anyone brushes past him.

English completely botched the campaign but frankly there's no way they would have won the 2018 WC without stuffing the pockets of the voters. And even then they'd have had to contend with Platini's endless crusade to run down English football.
Platini has hated English football ever since this happened.......

But we won them the World Cup...

Here's the full quote:

"We have to remember what we are.

"We are English. We tackle hard, are tough on the pitch and are hard to beat.

"We have great characters. You think of Spain and you think technical but you think of England and you think they are brave and they tackle hard. We have to remember that."

What does "hard to beat" mean anyway? Are teams like Spain and Brazil "easy to beat?"

I could understand someone like Milner saying that but Jack? Disappointing.

It's a pretty poor state of affairs when the great white hope of English football seems to have been transported from the early eighties.

He needs to stop this. There are times when he's targeted with little digs etc but rolling around clutching his leg and then whining isn't going to endear him to anybody, least of all the ref.

Tbh I think it's just one manifestation of his obvious frustration at his effort on the pitch not really yielding much return by way of form.

On the contrary, we had the best presentation of all the countries, with a good infrastructure, hotels and stadia.

The voted went to gas exporting countries, one of whom has been notching up military tensions (so good idea to bring them closer to the fold) and the other which bankrolls many of the Western World's construction projects.

I watched the campaign and I have to say England's campaign impressed me. The stadia and infrastructure were there and adding Beckham (an absolute icon) and Prince William gave the presentation the life it needed. I also have to say that although he's not the most popular bloke I remember David Cameron giving an absolutely phenomenal speech, especially considering he obviously has no idea about football.

But I also remember the farce with David Dein being brought on board and other personnel changes at late stages. Although tbh it was probably overplayed by the English press and made no difference in the grand scheme of things as England could not have done anything to get the WC.

The irony of this was not lost on me either. Jack is quickly becoming more embarrassing on the pitch than Comedy Eboue was. He really needs to man up and stop whining.

Bergkamp was probably the ultimate flair player, and was kicked and elbowed every single game he played (and back in the day when that shit was far more prevalent and less punished) but he didn't whine like a ladyboy with a too tight g-string, he got on with it and when needed he gave it back.

We cant blame him entirely look at his role models in the England team
John Terry ; Racist Bootboy
Rio Ferdinand; Coke sniffing Drama Queen
Steven Gerrard; Beats up members of the public in bars
Ashley Cole; Shoots Young boys on YTS schemes, does unatural things with phones
Falling into the trap that because England players get paid the best ,that they are the best ,recipe for more failure.
Jack needs to be taken very firmly in hand as a Fergie would do , Wenger is too weak to stop him .

Im all for selling him now !

Blimey! JW has obviously upset a lot of people. TWO threads now devoted to slagging him off. There is a lot of truth in the whole Ingerland bullshit rubbing off on him when he's with the other braindeads during an international get-together. But give him a break FFS!

I'm an England supporter but I hate the way we play the game, last time I remember us playing good football was when Venables was manager (and the one 5-1 against Germany), those apart we just play long ball stuff.

We have players who are more than capable of keeping the ball I'm sure, gerard, lampard, wilshere, baines, cole, rooney all can play decent football but we play conference style football, 2 passes and hoof it up the pitch.

I said I wouldn't watch them again after south africa (especially when rooney had a go at the support who paid a fortune to watch the useless *word censored*)when they didn't seem to give a fuck and strolled around the pitch but I can't help but watch it and want them to do well because I'm English, I used to go to the old Wembley to watch internationals (we had a big Arsenal contingent then) but wouldn't go to watch the current bunch.

We won't win anything again for sure (though the "70 world cup team was better than the "66 side and were unlucky) because we use antiquated tactics and style of play.

Anyhow wish I could be like you DB10 and just ignore it all but that being said club football will always be the priority.

I do think the lack of a winter break is a bigger factor then people actually realise. Summer tournaments these days are generally lethargic affairs yet England still manage to look particularly off the pace. Certianly doesn't seem to be a problem shared by other European nations to the same extent.
