THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Have to agree with sheepboy here.

But in all seriouness Arsene deserved the MOTM award. Only a bitter idiot would deny him that.

But I still want him gone. One swallow doesn't a steady girlfriend make. He will resort back to playing players out of position to accomodate his ridiculous tippy tappy 4-5-1 "system", he will fail to strengthen in January (AGAIN), and we will be out of everything by February/March (AGAIN) and Ozil will look to leave. :(

Groundhog season once again.... and again... and again... :|

The trusty auto-defence is in place I see! Just enjoy the run we're on and hope it continues.

Ridiculous statement. :| I am enjoying the run we are on. Loving it. But I can differentiate between a temporary good run of form and an inherant long term failure. THAT is exactly why I am expressing my concerns that Wenger will/is resort/ing to type.

I assume you are pro-Wenger? If so, can you answer this - How many times will you watch him make the same mistakes before you accept he is making mistakes? How many times do you need someone to punch you in the face before you stop and think "hey, they are punching me in the face..."?

no problem, happy to oblige to see how many times someone can punch me in the face before I respond.

providing, I get to do the same in return in 9 years if my prophecy is right - i.e we will have won silverware on a few occasions AND it will be because of rather than inspite of Arsene.

Undecided now.....Give him till May :? :barscarf:

I have wanted a new manager for a while now but IF he did win some serious silverware this season then I would have to reconsider my view.

I think some on here have banged the anti-wenger drum for so long and hard that I am sure a part of them doesn't want us to win anything with Wenger in charge, could be wrong but I'm not usually  8)

I'm for! - new contract please Ivan! :barscarf:

Nah, to be honest, I just want Arsenal to be back where they belong, and given the choice I'd rather that was with Wenger than without him and I'd love him to turn things around again.

My problem is I've come to the conclusion that he won't turn the club around and that Wenger's powers are on the wane. I'm not convinced 7 games into a new season blows those doubts away, but at least we're heading in the right direction.

We know he'll sign a new contract soon enough so I'm really just trying to think positive and hope it turns out well.

Fuck me! Goldfish brains do my head in.
Wenger needs to be gone yesterday.

He needs to be gone because of what he has already done or failed to do. We've been here before ffs. Whats the difference this time? Ozil and a good run? So fuck. I still cant understand the ozil signing and anyway this type of signing should have came years ago and continued every year. Not just ehen sesson ticket sale projections were getting worrying and when wenger startedto com under increased fan, media, board pressure. And when his fuckin project had been shown to the whole world to be a complete abject failure.

Sacked? He should have been run out of town years ago!

Fuck him.

If he did win the league then I would be absolutely delighted to eat the biggest slice of humble pie and accept that he's the right man. It's just never going to happen, we all know deep down that a strike force of Giroud and no tactical nous whatsoever is going to let us down over the course of a season.

And besides, even if by some miracle he was to experience more success it wouldn't vindicate what has happened over the last 6 seasons.

Dunno about that mate, I have wanted Wenger out for a long time but I would still be ecstatic if we won a major trophy as my love for Arsenal trumps my disdain for Wenger.
