Atmosphere (again)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Atmosphere (again)

Post by This Is The Daybreak »

Instead of the wonder of you we should play atmosphere by joy division before kick off because that's the only time atmosphere will happen at the grove.

Nrmally I sit in block E lower tier quite near the red action and its ok there, can be great at times, today I was sat in the upper tier behind the goal and pathetic was a word for it. Had a woman in front of me with a fancy camera taking photos all the way through and didn't celebrate when we scored, she just seemed happy she got a photo shot of the goal (it looked shit anyway, it was miles away)...for gods sake can't these people enjoy the moment.

Too much moaning and not enough support for the team, people leaving 6 minutes before the end of the half to get a shitty burgur and people leaving before the end (as has been discussed before on here).

The most noise all game that was made was the booing at half time which was an absolute disgrace. I did try and start a few chants but just got strange looks for the most of the time and gave up a lost cause

When I travel to away games I feel proud to support Arsenal as for some inexplicable reason I think our away support has improved in recent times, away I feel united with everyone else there and despite not having met them, you feel to support your team win lose or draw through sun, rain and snow.

Whereas at home I just find myself getting frustrated with those around me for not loving the club as much as I do, in my opinion since the move from Highbury the club have catered far too much for the coporates and see the fans as customers, Arsenal appears to be a status to far too many people nowdays.

Rant over :x

The thing that annoys me the most about the whole stadium situation, is people leaving early. OK, people don't want to sing. OK, people want to eat. OK, people want, or shall I say don't want to, come early. But once you are there, can't you just stay until the ref blows the whistle. It is so annoying, watching the match today and seeing people leave with 2 minutes left. Are 2 minutes going to make a big difference for you? How does it help you? How do the players feel as they see crowds leaving? They must feel like giving up and throwing in the towel. The team needs the fans behind them in these kind of situations. I hope the club does something about the early-leaves.

I've said it before. If you want an atmosphere then people must arrive in the "arena" early - like in the days of the terrace.

I don't mind Wonder Of You, but I'm not getting in to that debate again. In terms of music played we should learn from Spurs and Utd by playing great Arsenal songs - Good Old Arsenal, Highbury Sunshine, Highbury Highs, Hot Stuff, Go West, all that stuff.

This annoys me too. Aswell as empty seats!!! I no some people cant make matches for some reason or another. But surely they should put there seat on Ticket Exchange???

Today there was loads of empty seats. And i think its it's stupid that the Ticket Exchange is not open the week before the game for these tickets to go to desperate Reds!!!

atmosphere will be shit at emirates as long as we are fighting for honours. a few seasons floating about in mid table would fuck all da tarquins off and atmosphere would improve 100 percent

Was thinking the same if we were to be relegated, god forbid, we would keep a solid foundation of fans, and would have a great atmosphere.

Also is it me or are all early leavers in the lower tier, i can never recall corporates leaving early or the upper tier infact, not many anyway

A solid foundation? Arsenal has a genuine hard-core of around 20-25,000. Just check the attendances when we were shit in the 80's and mid '90s or even more pertinently the 70s.

Not many people are going to pay the prices we're currently asked for if Arsenal aren't at the top table. I'll take a "poor" atmosphere over a shit team any day thanks very much.

Strange how the atmosphere debate only kicks off when the team is playing not too well.
