Arsenal blog

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal blog

Post by BigMouth-TheGoon »

Hi all,

I'm a life-long Arsenal supporter. I'm just starting out on here and have an Arsenal related blog I started back in the summer.

I would really appreciate your thoughts and readership. I update it as and when I can (still fairly regularly). If you're on Blogger.com please subscribe. I'll paste my latest posts on here.

Cheers guys,

J

I offer my opinion, as requested -

It is fine as a news round up, but otherwise offers little that other blogs do not cover.
There are over 200 Arsenal blogs and websites.
What is your "Selling Point" to make me want to read it regularly?

Good luck though.

Welcome mate and good luck with the blog. But if you are only on here to advertise your blog I'll be moving this to the Cannonballs area of the forum. If you become a regular poster then we'll be a bit more lenient!

Cheers! I like seeing what others are saying and like to be involved in Arsenal discussions. I just every now and again use my blog to offer my view on things so hopefully it'll be ok for me to post where appropriate.

Finding a niche is difficult and I don't have access to the club to get my own exclusives or something that can make it particularly different. I just the blog to have my say, and whether people want to read it or not is up to them :) I just enjoy writing and hopefully people will read and either agree, disagree or just like reading another opinion.

Cheers guys,

J

I wasn't going to say anything, but what the hell... to be honest mate, I found it all a little boring and one paced. It reads like you were writing it in your sleep!

If you're passionate about writing and putting across an opinion (which I assume you are, otherwise why bother?) then I'm sorry to say it really doesn't shine through at all. I mean really, what did you say in that Bendtner article that was worth saying? - you just plodded through a vague recap of his career before posing the question about whether he's a changed man or not.

For me, as an avid fan, I found your blog was dumbed down for the casual supporter. Not sure if that was intended but the majority of what you write is background for the part time supporter and completely pointless for Arsenal fans.

Maybe that sounds harsh, but there's far too much rubbish on the internet as it is and people need to take more responsibility for their output. You should take pride in what you produce and only post what you feel is genuinely worth reading.

I suggest you take Quartz' advice and think about your selling point. Who is your target audience? If you want to offer bold, strong opinions, then do so... if you want it to be a funny, light hearted read, then work on that... if you want to simply recap the news of the day then make it interesting.

Anyway, good luck. It takes courage to put your thoughts and opinions on the line, but don't rush it. Failing to plan is planning to fail (or some other motovational bollocks   )

That's it. Be brave, go forth and conquer! :proudtosay:

No thanks for your honesty! To be honest sports and news writing is my background and that's more how it's shining through. I guess it's not tailored to everyone's tastes and might not work for a 'blog'. Cheers for your thoughts

I think it could work as a blog, just not for me in its current format.

And hell, I'm sure Arseblogger, Myles Palmer at ANR and every other blog has it's critics, but it hasn't stopped them making a success of it. If you're passionate about it, you'll make it work.

You'll need a thick skin though!

Honestly, good luck.
