If he does not go to Bayern, I could see him at Chelsea.

Thomas Vermaelen hints at Arsenal exit in January for regular playing time
The Arsenal club captain Thomas Vermaelen has hinted that he may seek a move away from the Emirates Stadium if first-team opportunities remain hard to come by.
The Belgian has been kept out of the starting XI this season by Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, who have flourished at the heart of the Gunners' defence. Vermaelen is not unduly concerned by the situation, but he wants to feature regularly for Arsène Wenger's side as he is keen to play a part for Belgium in the World Cup next year.
"I'll have to think about that when it's necessary. January is still a few months ahead. Of course, never playing will not be the ideal situation for me to go to the World Cup, that's for sure," he told the Daily Mail. "People ask me if I panic because I'm not playing a lot but I'm not.
"I have spoken to the manager but it will remain private between us. Things can happen in a split second and change my situation. That can happen tomorrow or next weekend. In that case, we will speak differently in January. I have to be ready for that."

Re: January transfer rumours thread
If Vermaelen does go, we may well have dodged a bullet.
He has not been the same since his ankle injury, and could be time to cut our losses?
What it does do though, is make it important that we sign Sagna to a new deal, and replace Vermaelen.
Possibly with a centre back who can cover in another area of the pitch, in that Vermaelen and Koscielny is now first choice partnership and any new player could face a fair amount of time on the bench.

He'd have been a good additional but he said that he wanted a guarantee that he would be played at centre back, which AW couldn't do.StuartL wrote:QuartzGooner wrote:If Vermaelen does go, we may well have dodged a bullet.

Re: January transfer rumours thread
I'm a bit meh about TV5 to be honest. He looked brilliant in his first season, got stuck in, scored a few goals, showed real grit... then got a knock and he just seemed to sink into himself, whether from the injury or having the grit "coached" out of him by Arsene, I dunno....
But still, if he does go, we are down one more squad member, so would need to sign 2 CH's rather than the one we currently need...

he is one of Europes best man to man markers, hence his inclusion as Vice Captain in a very good Belgium team.
However, Wenger having spent 30 years in football believes that Zonal marking is the way to go.
TV is just 27, when he leaves us he'll go back to being one of Europes best CB's as he was for Ajax.

oh and Super Quality Park has refused to take a cut from his 45k a week to play for Wigan on loan....
Park is now 28, and has cost us nearly 4million in wages for four appearances and one league cup goal.

Is that correct? Jesus, if it is, it's on a par with Diaby "earning" £27million....clockender1 wrote:oh and Super Quality Park has refused to take a cut from his 45k a week to play for Wigan on loan....

park is on 45k a week...2 mill a year.
not sure about Diaby but he has been with us 8 years so that sounds about right.
