Chavs (H) in the thingy cup

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

They can call on the likes of Luis, Mata, Ba, Mikel, that spanish defender whose name I can't spell plus a lot of expensively acquired squad men and youngsters (what most other clubs would call 'first team players'), while we have no option but to field a relatively week side barring TV, Jenko and Nicky B (perhaps Monreal and TR?). If the likes of Theo, the Ox, Poldoski etc were available then I would fancy our chances but alas without a proper DM playing, I fear a defeat. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong but if not, let's hope losing this match isn't the start of a confidence-sapping bad run.

I hate the chavs. Have done since I was 7. They're my older brother's team and I grew up being traumatised by LPs of their. FA Cup win against Leeds, played at deafening volume (from which you'll gather I'm an old fart). Just the sight of Mourinho makes me feel sick.
Fair to say, I really really want us to win this one. But they'll turn out a team of internationals and we'll have Bendtner and Miyaichi etc.

They are internationals

I do like the increased away supporter allocations for these matches, as well as the reduced price, about the only positives really.

Didnt used to mind the Chavs as we always seemed to beat them till Abramovitch came along, hated them since then, the Cashley business didnt help, now they are near to the pits, but a bit above The Scum and Manure for me

Looks like Mourinho won't field youngsters:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... ea-arsenal

Mourinho had offered Juan Mata and Kevin De Bruyne game-time at the County Ground, with that approach to selection expected to be maintained at Arsenal. Ryan Bertrand and César Azpilicueta should start at full-back, with Mark Schwarzer in goal and David Luiz, possibly alongside the young Czech Tomas Kalas, at centre-half. The under-used Mata, De Bruyne, Michael Essien, Willian and Mikel John Obi will expect to feature, having failed to start against City, while Demba Ba, who had been close to moving to Arsenal in September, will compete with Samuel Eto'o for a place up front.

Strong team. It'll be a tough test for our youngsters.

As long as that's latin for 'Giant Furburger', then I agree! :D

Far more important to me than that 'thing' we got predictably beaten in last week

One half of the season dies if those chav bastards win tomorrow

Oh well, FA Cup in January !

Nice way of describing a centre forward that doesn't score many goals.......similar to 'great personality' = absolute minger

yeah, we should be putting out a full strength side - but we can't due to our bare bones squad.

oh well, another year of out of all cups by the end of January then.

it's the stadium you know...

Vermaelen
Monreal
Jenkinson
Miyaichi
Akpom
Ajayi
Eisfeld
Yennaris

I can see this unfortunately panning out the way our League Cup tie at home to City did a couple of years back i.e. our young midfield having a lot of possession and dominating some more senior fringe players on the other side (back then Hargreaves, now Essien).......but sadly being let down by the pathetic waste of space up front i.e. back then SQ Park and now the fat Danish Samurai

Not quite sure how it helps our kids having to play 'no shots' football for 90 mins but then I haven't got a cunning plan of winning trophies without strikers unlike the man who has worked in football for 30 years
